Ep98. In this episode of Cruising Off Duty we continue to explore Barcelona. If you only have time to see one thing in Barcelona Spain, it has to be De La Sagrada Familia. It is massive, it is breathtaking and is a wonder of architecture, especially considering it was designed and started to be built in the 1890s. It is still not complete and the final completion date is estimated to be done in 2026. 100 years after its architect, Antoni Gaudi, died.

It is by far the best thing we saw while visiting Spain and would consider it a “must see” it to anyone visiting the city.

  1. Incredible structure! What a magnificent piece of architecture. Thank you for sharing. Coincidentally, De La Sagrada Familia is featured in the latest novel by Dan Brown, “Origin”. 🙂

  2. Craig , I hope you have enjoyed your first trip to Europe. I don't know if Canadians visit Europe much, but in the States only a small portion do. Now you are seeing the reasons some of us visit whenever we can. Take care.

  3. It never ceases to amaze me how wonderful mankind can be. The power to think, dream, create, build. Mankind has unlocked many secrets of the universe, from the atom, to physics, astronomy, mechanics and medicine to mention just a few. And some individual and group of individuals had to be curious and find out about all that stuff and build on where others left off. It's mind boggling that a culture started a project knowing it would not be completed in their life time, their children's lifetime, their grandchildren's lifetime! To think how complicated these edifices are and the technology they had when it was designed and started. Humbling! Thanks for sharing your trip.     Rick
