**Infanta Sofía Debuts at Her First Solo Official Engagement**

The youngest daughter of the King and Queen will present the photography awards organized by Patrimonio Nacional.

Infanta Sofía is set to debut in her first solo official engagement on Friday, December 13. She will present the awards to the winners of the photography competition *Objetivo Patrimonio*, named in her honor, during a ceremony at the Gallery of the Royal Collections in Madrid.

The 17-year-old daughter of the monarchs is returning to Madrid this weekend from Wales, where she is studying the second year of the International Baccalaureate, to spend her Christmas holidays. Sofía’s last public appearance in Spain was in October when she accompanied the King, Queen, and Princess Leonor at the Princess of Asturias Awards events in Oviedo.

The photography competition, promoted by Patrimonio Nacional, was named after Infanta Sofía to mark the beginning of her solo official engagements. Until she completes her university studies, which she plans to begin next year in Spain, her official commitments will be occasional.

So far, the youngest daughter of the King and Queen has only appeared in public alongside her parents and sister at institutional events, such as King Felipe VI’s proclamation, family celebrations, and vacations in Mallorca. She has also accompanied Princess Leonor at certain activities organized by the Princess of Girona Foundation.

The *Objetivo Patrimonio, Infanta Sofía Photography Competition* awards, organized by Patrimonio Nacional, have recognized Antonio Farto Casado in the category of *Palaces and Monasteries,* Emilie Payn in *Natural Spaces,* and Teresa Dorado Jiménez in *Works of Art.* Infanta Sofía will also present awards to the finalists and certificates of recognition to the top ten entries in each category, selected from a total of 250 submissions that captured the beauty and richness of the Royal Collections, palaces, monasteries, and natural spaces managed by Patrimonio Nacional.

Antonio Farto’s photograph showcases a scene from the Monastery of El Escorial, Emilie Payn’s winning image highlights the natural surroundings of El Escorial, and Teresa Dorado’s award-winning photo was taken inside the Gallery of the Royal Collections.

Patrimonio Nacional launched this competition to promote the palaces, monasteries, museums, and natural spaces under its management. The institution recently updated its policies, allowing visitors to take photographs during tours, aligning with practices in most museums worldwide.
