We e-biked to Cap de Formentor

Mallorca is a very popular cycling destination and the ride out to “Cap de Formentor” is one of the most popular routes on the island.

From Playa de Alcúdia it was 62km return, with approx 1000m of ascent/descent.
It took us around 5.5h total time (including photo stops), the pure “moving time” was 3h.

We worried a bit, because the route is rated “difficult” and we are not experienced cyclists.
But it turned out “very easy” for us on e-bikes, it was super fun!
However, for normal bikes this route looked definitely challenging.

In summer, the second half of the route is closed for traffic, so the road is more pleasant for cycling.
We had a couple of cars overtaking us but they were all very slow and careful.
I think the drivers realized that cars were the “minority” compared to the bikes.
We saw way more cars parked at the viewpoints than actual cars overtaking us.
Not sure how that worked, I think the cars just had to drive so slow that not many were able to overtake.
And compared to the normal bikes we were actually quite fast on our e-bikes.

Thanks to “Enjoy Bike Garage” in Alcúdia for the rental bikes and great service!
