  1. You know why it takes 142 year to build? This what true building of the structures look like, not those fake historical facts that cities been erected within 100 years when population technologies and materials were so scares.

  2. This has nothing to do with getting closer to God,,,,,
Petti little men trying to show how great they are,,,,,
How much of the poor,, or people in need could have been helped instead,,,,,
And,, you have to pay to come in and see it. Yeah,, that's Godly,,,,,

  3. Wow. I just turned 73 and for the last 40 years an information junkie and this is the first time I have heard of this. You live and you learn.

  4. What an impractical piece of architectural garbage. 142 years and still not done….that explains it all. By the time its finished the restoration project will take 250 years.

  5. Looks obscene to me. I think I stand with the arsonist. His children probably starved while people who perform Christianity sucked up resources to build this mess. It looks like cheap plastic inside, with Nickelodeon lights. Speaking of obscenity, it shocks me that I am of a species that finds the nude female body obscene, while allocating humanity's resources to projects like this, which they imagine are Holy.

  6. It's miraculous how Sagrada Família survived the Spanish civil war with the help of the martyrs who bravely protected the church. Not to mention that this mesmerizing basilica is getting finished during quite a shaky world situation.

With its unique, naturelike forms, colourful stained glass windows and biblical stories carved in stone, Sagrada Família is really a haven where one can feel the loving mercy of God.

Gràcies, Antoni Gaudí. Thank you for leaving us such a legacy. When a man like you decides to use all his talent to glorify God, the result is a piece of heaven on Earth.

And thank you to ALL the architects, workers, artists and donors who have continued Gaudí's work. Because of your talent and determined work Gaudí's vision is finally coming true.

  7. Unbelievable ! The colorful light coming through all the stained glass was just amazing. I'd love to see that place finished, and in person someday….. which is actually out of the norm for myself. I'm usually wanting to be out in nature, with nothing man made in sight.

What's up with all the places around it ? They look like stack n packs. This place needs to be on a beautiful green hillside, somewhere. Totally bringing down the property value 🙂 lol

  8. English author Eric Arthur Blair (George Orwell) fought in the Spanish civil war on the Republican side. While stationed in Barcelona, Orwell described the Sagrada Familia as "one of the most hideous buildings in the world". In his book "Homage to Catalonia" George Orwell even expressed disappointment that the anarchists hadn't destroyed it.
