Plaza de España (Spanish: Plaza de España) is one of the most spectacular squares in Seville, the capital of Andalusia in Spain. It was designed for the 1929 Ibero-American Exposition by local architect Aníbal González. A thousand men participated in its construction, which was completed in 1928.
It is located northeast of María Luisa Park. It covers an area of ​​50,000 m², including 19,000 m² for the palace and 31,000 m² for the square itself and the canals.
The square forms a semi-oval with its longest diameter measuring 200 m. Symbolizing, through its shape, Spain welcoming its former colonies with open arms, it faces in the direction of the Guadalquivir River, the latter representing the path to the Atlantic Ocean and America.
