The Best Travel Adventure in Wild Guatemala

There are enigmatic treasures all over Guatemala and we aim to find them on my KTM 690 Enduro. We take the long way around to get to Lake Atitlan, Guatemala with a visit to San Pedro La Laguna and then get lost of the way to Antigua. Getting lost in the Guatemala jungles is a theme on this trip as I make my way through Rio Dulce to Cañón Seacacar in the mountains above Lake Izabel.
The next day is a beautiful motorcycle ride to Semuc Champey Guatemala, a river system with caves and swimming pools along a short stretch in the mountain jungles. It’s a long ride to get there and not a dull moment the whole way. The day is capped by a daring bridge crossing you have to see to believe.
Staying in Lanquin had its troubles, but I was soon outta there with a long day to Xela to research the Chicken Bus public transportation craze of Central America.
The last few days going north towards Mirador de Juan Dieguez Olaverri and Piedras De Kab’tzin Captzin and deep into the sparsely populated Cuchumatanes mountains. The end isn’t nearly as sweet. I get a flat tire and have to limp back into Mexico at the Gracias a Dios border crossing.
