  1. Nice video. Only two saying about it. Antoni Gaudí indeed was a devoted Catholic after he had started the La Sagrada Família construction. And he died not fifteen, but three days after he was hit by the tram.

  2. This was really interesting and info-packed, I just wish it hadn't started with an obviously incorrect statement "the longest-running construction project in history" – numerous European cathedrals (Notre Dame, Cologne) took several centuries or more, and no doubt there are many ancient sites (Great Wall, Heliopolis in Lebanon, other temples) where the substantial work took over 150 years.

  3. I first visited the site in 1967 and have been returning almost every year since to watch the construction of this wonderful building. I hope I will live to see it finished; so please keep up the pace and let's get it completed soon.

  4. the Milan cathedral took about 580 years to build, don't worry Americans, it's normal for Europe to take centuries to do things when they want

  5. The “temple” where our Creator’s Holy Spirit resides is the body if His followers. Not things made of brick and mortar but flesh and bone.

  6. Personally, I just love that this is something that has been carried on and financially supported by the faithful. I'm not Catholic, and the Church certainly has some issues to work through, but it is heartening to see so many people from around the world still find some inspiration, joy, love, and faith in the original message of Jesus Christ, and they show it by building things of beauty. Far too much ugliness exists in the world today, far too much destruction. It is good to see things of beauty being built so we all can find inspiration, whether we're believers or not.

  7. I visited it in November 2023. It's certainly impressive, but it's also rather bizarre. I hope it gets finished sooner rather than later.

  8. Just visited on May 26/24. Second visit after one in 1989.
Way back then, I just saw the outside and did not pay enough attention. Did not understand much. It looked strange to me.
This time , I went on a guided tour inside and out.
Explained a lot. Now I get it.
    Magnificent beyond description.
It tells the stories of Christ. To me, for one, a somewhat dormant, ignorant so called Christian, it awakens a curiosity I have frankly lacked all my life.
Antoni Gaudi was and remains a hero and more to the people of Catalonia and a keeper of the faith in the strongest terms.
After having seen the Basilica Sagrada Familia , I shall look at other churches , especially old ones, in a much more discerning way.

  9. Its not near completion because the façade of glory 4 towers hasn't been start constructing yet but it will start constructing the façade of glory 4 towers after the tower of Jesus tower is finished, so sagrada familia will be finished in 2030

  10. I can hardly imagine a greater example of architectural ugliness, and the time and resources expended on it. It is the sort of edifice that I would expect to see in a horror movie or my worst nightmare 😮 !!!

  11. Imagine it adecuatly collored, as The Kremlin in Moscow, at least the top of the towers., and then illuminated. Are you agree or not,….do you prefer better the vintage/rusty brown style or maybe with good AND selective paints? I prefer the classic style, but also have a bit doubt. I know it's only a thought, not real purposes, but, in general…what do you opine??

  12. My first visit was in 1972 and then 1979 and 2005 and 2007. My dream has always been to see it completed. In 1972 when we visited, I was 11 years old and you could still see the burn marks on the old facade. Hardly anyone was working on it. It's a miraculous building by an architectural giant.

  13. Don't you worry, catholic church will be more than willing to claim ownership of church and land even if they won't participate in cost of building. It's always been that way in this criminal organisation

  14. Feed the poor, heal the sick? Nope. We're talking permanence in real-estate investment returns, for a religion. Jesus would've loved the Palaces.

  15. It seems to me that Lord Jesus would return to this world as Christ Saviour at Gaudi’s masterpiece in La Sagrada Familia, there’s something magical about it and in colonial routes of the Spaniards in Americas where they still enjoy a lot of cultural influence, like in Mexican food and modern state of US, besides in South America. Let’s remember that the European continent was under the rule of Spanish dynasty, during the dark ages of Europe (500-1500) after the fall of Rome and the Catholic Church and before the advent of masters like Michelangelo and Raphael who emerged in neighbouring Florence, Spain held ground for Christian faith between Roman Empire and Italian Renaissance.. it is only apt that a Spanish city, their most famous, in Barcelona becomes a witness of Christ coming back as a Saviour, but I ask, why would he be a Catholic/ Protestant, can’t that person be a person of another faith, of another nationality.. Indian/ Tibetan/ Buddhist/Vaishnavite.. basically a person of modern sainthood.. not a fallen religion that was Roman Catholicism or a so called Christianity, which is perhaps known as Protestantism.. or, what about Africaans, is there a Mandela like Gandhi coming to save us from Climate Change?! I ask, on closing days on COP29 summit, as time has simply run out.. Earth is falling apart. Let’s hope and pray 🤲 for a miracle.

  16. We first visited about 35 years ago when it really was a building site. We have been back numerous times including taking my son and grandson when the interior was first open to the public. We are going to visit again in three weeks after studying the exterior in our last trip 6 weeks ago. Thank you for your informative video. It was very interesting. Ps We will be staying opposite Cas Batlo on the next visit so looking forward to that.

  17. Anarchists, revolutionaries, islamists, and arsonists–why are some people hellbent on the destruction of those rare things when humans decided on creating and expressing beauty rather than the most often mundane or even grotesque?!?

  18. It's one of the most beautiful catholic churches in the world.
Since the act of worship involves all our senses, It elevates our spirits to the true worship of God. Our Lord JesusChrist
I wouldn't be surprised that Gaudi is already in Heaven.
