Epic Yosemite Backpacking: Journey to McCabe Lake via the PCT – Day two
Discover McCabe Lake – A Yosemite National Park Backpacker and Fishing Destination!
In Part 2 of our Yosemite backpacking adventure, we continue along the Pacific Crest Trail out of Cold Canyon and into the heart of Yosemite’s alpine backcountry. This video highlights the lush meadows, shaded forest paths, and a dry, sun-exposed climb up to the breathtaking McCabe Lake—a hidden gem tucked beneath granite ridges.
We arrived just in time for an unforgettable afternoon swim, a golden Sierra sunset, and a peaceful night under the stars. Waking to a pastel sunrise over the still lake, we found ourselves completely immersed in the kind of beauty that makes you want to stay off-grid forever.
Route: PCT from Cold Creek Canyon to McCabe Lake
Total Distance (Day 2): ~7.5 miles
Highlights: High Sierra meadows, alpine lake swimming, granite peaks, backcountry solitude
Whether you’re planning your own backpacking trip in Yosemite or just daydreaming of wild escapes, this video offers a real taste of adventure, challenge, and serenity in one of the most spectacular corners of the park.
Don’t forget to subscribe for Part 3, where we go cross-country from McCabe Lake to Upper Youngs Lake via Roosevelt Lake and Sheep Peak.
Join us as we hike towards McCabe Lakes and enjoy the beautiful sites. This **hiking** trip will feature scenic views as we get close to the **eastern sierra**. We also enjoy a relaxing breakfast before our **trek**.
