🚂 Day Trip on the Sóller Railway & Tram | Stunning Mallorca Journey
[Music] Today we’re on the Spanish island of Morca and the city of Palmer for one of the best train experiences in Europe. The electric wooden train that’s been delivering goods and passengers since 1912. Welcome to the Soyer Trail. This stunning mountainous view 1-hour journey connects you up through the mountains to Soyer that connects you with the tram to the port of Cair, which you’ll see later. The station is situated in the center of Palmer. We arrived on cruise ship and it took around 15 minutes to arrive in a taxi, €18. It’s a 15-minute walk from the cathedral, around 12 mi away from Magalof, and 33 mi away from another tourism town of Alcudia. Here is the route that we’ll be taking up to the mountains. You start the journey through the streets of Palmer. I love the fact you could move these seats so you could sit as a family of four or just sit in the direction of travel. This is known as the open air gangway and you could stand here throughout the journey. The service runs almost all year round. Closes around the 11th of December until early February for maintenance. The winter timetable is slightly reduced. This is your timetable for summer. How much would it cost? You can get cheaper tickets online. First of all, the cheapest is this €32 ticket. Tickets come available around a week before. The €32 one is slightly limited. One service up, one service back in the afternoon. The €40 one has a lot more services to choose from. As you can see, they’re all laid out here with return trips. We took a trip in the afternoon as we had a long cruise stop until midnight, and it was a lot quieter in the afternoon. €40 for adults, €20 for children. We thought it was definitely worth it. That is a combined ticket for train and tram. More expensive if you’re buying from the ticket office, but there was tickets available in mid August. Nice. [Music] Heat. Heat. After an hourong journey, you arrive at the station in Soya. short walk down the steps to connect with the tram. The trams are pretty frequent. This one was quite busy, so we took the opportunity to head to the kiosk, which is on the station, grab ourselves a little drink, wasn’t too expensive, and a sit down for half an hour and enjoy the scenery. Okay. So there’s no booking beforehand. Okay. So what time? Every half hour. [Music] Journey time on the tram is around 30 minutes. It was a combined ticket. can get pretty busy with locals. Plenty of stops. [Music] panic from the end of the [Music] This is the last stop on the tram journey. Also, where it starts and can get a bit hectic on your return journey. [Music] The final destination is such a relaxed place to sit back, have a drink, and enjoy the sights. [Music] Return on the tram and the train back down to P. back to Palmer for some Saturday night tapas. What railway journey in Europe would you recommend? I’m NOT a train enthusiast. But I wouldn’t mind a trip on that one looks nice.
Hi there, been on that train and tram several times. Always a good journey. Both Puerto Soller and Soller town are worth visiting. The hotel Esplendido in Puerto Soller is also good to stay. Lovely area for walking in the Sierra Tramontana. Almost the best area of Mallorca. Thanks for filming this lovely journey.
