Where to eat in San Sebastián? This + my full vlog is up now 🇪🇸 #sansebastian

[Music] San Sebastian in Spain is known as one of the best destinations in Europe for foodies. And here is everything I ate while I was there with a little hidden gem at the end that I haven’t seen a lot of people mention. First up, we have Gambara, which is a Bourdain favorite and rightfully so. The iconic seasonal mushrooms were fantastic. And if you head here for opening time, the queue really isn’t that bad. Bar Sport is another iconic pinchoff spot which does take a little bit of athletic ability to order at the counter, but again their food is impeccable and the sea urchin soup and the puagr are the ones to order. I love that in San Sebastian it is totally acceptable to just go into a place and order dessert. And if you do that anywhere, make sure it is at Itari for their caramelized Spanish style French toast with ice cream. So good. On the coffee shop front, we went to Simona Specialty Coffee Roasters, a gorgeous cafe with views over the hustle and bustle of town. But one of my favorite cafes this year was Dripper Cafe. We loved this so much that we came back twice and everything was perfection. From the Basque Cheesecake through to their take on an egg mcmuffin. While hopping around the Pinchos bars is a must for a sit-down dinner, head to muka. Here it is all about open fire cooking and the €65 tasting menu is ridiculously good value for this level of dining. And finally, an absolute favorite was Bar Arenales, a low-key gem that felt like dining at a friend’s house. They serve fresh and fussy plates from a changing chalkboard menu. This tuna and white asparagus will go down as a highlight dish of the trip. For everything from shopping recommendations to things to do, check out my full San Sebastian itinerary in my substack.
