2600 Metreye Zorlu Tırmanış! Ulubaba Dağı/Ziyareti Yolculuğu (1. bölüm) 8

It goes to those fields. It’s not that road. Go straight up. Look at this. Oh no. You see the tree or something. Nope. I ate. You ate. I ate and ate. Thanks. We’ve started climbing, friends. How? Alone? I’m climbing alone. Who’s coming? God give us all alone anyway. Exactly, brother. Will this road continue straight after that? I don’t know for sure. I’ve never been on the road. This whole area will be under the dam. This includes a road. This dam will be flooded. This is the Gömkön Dam. Water will collect in this area. [Applause] Hello friends. Where are we? Today we’re on a new route. As you can see behind me, right there is Ulubaba, 2500 meters high. I’m going to climb here. This is such a mountain range, this is the Taurus Mountains. This is also 2500 meters of Akdağ. So the Taurus Mountains are from that direction. That point is Uluaba. This is a place to visit. The locals actively use this place. I don’t know the ways. This will be my first time driving here. It will be a challenging road. Let’s see what awaits us on the road. Let’s travel together, my friends. I would be happy if you subscribe to our channel, Adventurer, my social media accounts, and my YouTube account. New videos will be published on these social media accounts. Stay tuned. Yes, friends, as I just mentioned, this is the Akdağ Toros Mountains. The other side of it is Malatya. This is the route I will take. Ulubaba is 2500 meters high. From the borders of Yaylakonak Balyan, Gömükan, and Azikan, I will climb to Ulubaba. Let our journey begin at an altitude of approximately 2500 meters, my friends. [Music] Yes, friends, good morning everyone again. It’s around 9:00 am. I’ve planned a new route. I’m in the Yaylakonak region of Adıyaman. I’m also close to the Gömükan Dam. The trunk is visible over there. As you can see, I will climb to the summit of Ulubaba. There is a pilgrimage there. I will see that area once. I will visit it, too. Let’s see what kind of road awaits us. Yes, friends, this bridge goes to the Yaylakkonak Balyan Municipality. From here, we ‘ll go towards Gömükan. We ‘ll climb over the Gömükan Dam to Gömükan, and from there, we’ll climb the Düzağaç-Azikan road. These are used for the dam. They use those large pipes to deliver water from the Gömükan Dam to the Yazı villages. They opened this road to carry sand and stone to the dam. The body of the dam is visible ahead . In about 500 meters, we’ll probably see the body of the dam . Navigation doesn’t work in this area either . Because there’s no such signposted road, it doesn’t show up. Because it’s a dirt road, it’s not registered in navigation. That’s why navigation doesn’t work in the area. Phone reception isn’t very good either. On this road, after passing these villagers, citizens, and locals, friends, we’ll climb Ulubaba. It’s going to be an adventurous route. We’ll drive on dirt roads. We’ll climb the mountain. The mountain is 2,500 meters high, one of the highest in the region. The other is Akdak. There’s also Akdağ , in the same mountain range, on the same connection . The second is Uluaba. Both are the same height. Yes, friends, this is the Gömükan Dam. The dam’s main body. I don’t know if it’s holding water yet. It’s still under construction. Work has been going on here for maybe two or three years . [Music] It probably hasn’t started holding water yet. Because there are excavators and vehicles on top . The vehicles and work are continuing. As an adventurer, this time I set my route to Ulubaba Mountain, one of Adıyaman’s highest peaks, at 2600 meters . An impressive structure lay on my way: Adıyaman Gömükan Dam. As I rode my motorbike over the dam’s massive main body, a magnificent view spread out before me. On one side of me were the 2700-meter Taurus Mountains, or Akdal, and on the other, the 2600-meter-high Ulubaba Mountain rose in all its glory. This dam would be filled both by water coming from Aktağ Çat and by being fed by Ulubaba Mountain. It is being constructed on Haneresi, approximately 25 km from Adıyaman city center , near Çamyurdu Gömükan Village . The height from the foundation is approximately 80 meters. The project agreement was signed in 2016-2017, the construction site was established, and expropriation work was completed. In 2021, a 260-meter-long diversion tunnel, a 2,025-meter conduit, and a 325-meter roof tunnel were completed. completed. In 2022, the access road and body stripping excavations were completed, and body filling work began. According to plans, the dam will begin holding water at the end of 2025 and be opened for irrigation in 2026. This is the Gömükan Dam. The water will be collected in this area. On one side, water will come from this roof. On the other side, the Gömükan Dam will be filled by the Ulu Baba River. In other words, this dam will be fed by two branches. Some of Adıyaman’s drinking water will be met from here, and the villages of Adıyaman will be irrigated from here. So, probably when the water comes, these houses will be flooded . Those places will be completely flooded. There are also houses and tents across there . They will also be flooded. For example, there is a house over there. [Music] There are those houses. They have already been evacuated. They will also be flooded by this pond. Probably all of those places will be flooded. That olive grove, part of that forest, a large part of it will be flooded. Because water will come from the Çat Dam. On one side, it will come from there, and on the other, Ulubaba, from this streambed. So, this entire area will be submerged. In the vehicle’s waters. Yes, this is Gömükan Village. I left the dam behind and continued on my way through Gömükan village . But the future of this village is bleak. When the dam is completed, the village will be completely submerged, and the people will move to another area. These scenes we captured on camera today will perhaps go down in history as the last images of Gömükan village . This area will probably be no longer accessible in a year or two. All of this, including this road, will be submerged. Below the dam. There’s a stream there. Some water flows in the stream. There’s probably water around here. Because the tobacco plants are being irrigated around here. Let me ask this friend. Oh, there’s a brother here too. Peace be upon you, brother. Peace be upon you. Brother, this is Gömükan, isn’t it? Gömükan. I’m going to Ulubaba, brother. Go straight. I’ll go straight. Uh-huh. Which village will come to me? Düzağaç will come out. After Düzağaç, they will direct you. Will you go up from Düzağaç again ? Upwards. You will go up to Azikan. After Az iken, you will go up from Azikan to Ulubaba from there. Yes. Via Azikan. Okay, brother. Thank you. [Music] Yes, friends, this is Gömükan Village. First Düzağaç. After this village, Düzağaç . After that, Aziken. There is no settlement after Azikan. From there, I will climb the mountain. Azikan is the last village. After that, there is no settlement. This is my first time on this road. I mean, I’ve never used this road. I’ve never been this way. I don’t know what the condition of the roads is. I mean, this place has been asphalted. I don’t know how much of the road is smoother ahead. [Music] Yes, friends, there is no asphalt here. This is a normal stabilized road, dirt road. Probably no asphalt after this. [Music] Yes, from now on, it’s dusty roads. The adventurer goes to Ulubaba on the dusty roads. A large mountain, 2500 meters high. We continue our journey among mountains, hills, around big bends , along a stream, and along a valley. [Music] Yes, friends, we’ve started a climb right now. I’m climbing a slope. With such a view, as I said, all of this place will be under the dam. This is a valley. Those tobacco gardens, some of these trees. Maybe this road could be flooded. Because a large dam will become a reservoir here. Is there water here? Yes, there is water here. I’m going to have a drink of water here. There is water over there. Yes, friends, this is also Düzağaç, I think. I didn’t see a sign here, but the villagers said there were flat trees. After Düzağaç, there will be Azikan village. So, there’s another village besides this one. After that, there are no villages or settlements. The road isn’t paved. It’s a stabilized dirt road. I’ll ask here, if there are any villagers, we’ll ask someone and continue on our way, friends. Yes, he hasn’t seen anyone in this village, unfortunately. Heh. Now, I don’t know whether we’re going to go right or left, but there are houses ahead. Maybe I can ask there. I need to ask there to be sure. Is this the way? Is it the way up? There are two ways. Where does the upper road go? I don’t know where the lower road goes . We’ll try from here. We’ll ask those houses down there. Although it could probably be the upper road. This could also be the road to these houses , or does it continue? I don’t know about that , but it’s probably fine up there. [Music] Is anybody there? [Music] No one in sight. [Music] Ah! I saw an uncle. Peace be upon you, uncle. Brother, I was going to Ulu Bab, but I don’t know if it was this upper road or this one. From the exit road. There’s no Hav. From the wife’s road. It goes to Askana, right? I can go up from there too. Thank you, brother. Thank you. [Music] Yes, friends, it’s the upper road. That’s what the uncle said. We’ll turn around from here and take the upper road again. [Music] Yes, we took the upper road . There’s a village up there. It’s also Askan village, you can see. There’s no village after that. Roads Yes. The roads are bad. The weather is good, but it’s not very hot here. It’s a little bumpy here, but the weather is still normal. [Music] [Music] Yes friends, these roads are a little difficult for vehicles, but they are ideal for motorcycles. But vehicles actively use this road. Because this is the only road. There is a very dense forest there. [Music] We continue our climb. We go up dusty dirt roads. The adventurer goes to Ulubaba. Yes friends, as you get to the top, the angle decreases. There are few trees around here. In fact, there is one here. A few here. So, as you go up, the weather changes and the number of trees decreases. I don’t think there are any animals around here. I haven’t come across any. Heh. Yes friends, we continue on our way. I think I’ve arrived in Azikan. This is Azikan village. [Music] I don’t know where to go from here. I’ll continue straight. If there is, I’ll ask someone. This part of the village is asphalted. It’s on dirt. Is there anyone? Hah, there are someone ahead. They make tobacco in this village again. Adıyaman tobacco. There are brothers and sisters. Let’s wrap them up. Peace be upon you. Brother, are you from here? You’re from here, aren’t you? I’m not from here. Do I have to go straight to Ulu Baba too? You have to turn right there. There’s levah anyway. Does it exist? Yes. The levah up ahead is looking this way, but which way do I turn? I’ll turn that way. That way. It’ll turn that way and go back there and go here. So does that road continue straight after that? I don’t know for sure. I’ve never been on the road. There’s levah. It goes like this, back there. There’s that hill back there. Okay. It goes at the bottom of that hill. Yeah. There’s probably no village after that. Yeah. No, no. After that, there’s a village, I mean, there’s a couple of houses, but they’re empty. They’re empty. Yeah. So this is the last village. Isn’t this place when it was small? When it was small. Yes. Its other name is Yazıbaşı. Yazıbaşı. Yeah, okay, okay, brother. There’s levah up ahead. Yeah, okay, okay. Thank you. [Music] Yes. It says Adıyaman Merkez Yazıbaşı health center there. This is Azikan Village , meaning Yazıbaşı. My brother also told me that. Let me tell this brother too . Peace be upon you, uncle. [Music] Welcome, brother. Well, I’m going to Ulubaba, do I have to go straight? Where should I go? To Ulu Bab. How do I get there, brother? Now, we’re crossing a road behind this house. Okay. There’s a bridge right there on the way there. Heh. From the bridge, turn right and go straight. You’ll turn right at the bridge anyway, you’ll turn right. You’ll turn right. After that, you’ll go straight. You’ll go straight. Don’t go off the road. He. How’s that, brother? Don’t get clumsy, then. I’ll go straight. Heh, there’s already a road up there. Not that one, I’ll go the one above. No, you’re telling me, now I ‘ll enter the bridge from the right. I’ll enter from the right. It’ll exit straight. I mean, that road owner. Go neither right nor left. There’s a road going at the foot of it. Okay. It goes all the way there. From there, eh, there’s no accounting writings, brother. He. If it’s written, does it say Ulu Baba? Ulu Baba writes. If he writes, there’s no problem. Well, what about the road? It’s a dirt road. The dirt road isn’t asphalt. road. No. It just came from that side of Göreme. Is it like that road? It’s a dirt road. Oh okay. Okay. Thanks, brother. Thanks. I just did it on my way. I did it, thanks. You hit a turn somewhere. How many minutes will it be there? Will it take an hour? No, it won’t take an hour on a motorcycle. Doesn’t it? Half an hour. Oh, half an hour. Thank you. You open it or something. No, I ate. You ate. I ate and ate. Thanks. But nothing good will happen, I guess. Because this land is for motorcycles. Oh. Oh, it will come out . Oh. Well, is there any water or something up there? There is water. For drinking. For drinking. There is a tanker, I mean, is there a spring or something like that? No, there is no spring, but look, far below. Are there any such things along this road in these hides? There are in the road. For drinking. For drinking. A road for drinking. And is there anything up there? Up on the hill. Because everyone, you and I, is going. Those places are full of people. Don’t drink water. There are one or two on the road , I mean. There is no water problem. There is water on the road too. Can a motorbike go all the way to the top of the mountain? It can. It goes all the way to your father’s. It goes there. Vehicles because I know it goes. Well, taxis are out. They are. Exactly, I saw them going, so I guess we can go too. Okay, brother, thank you. How? Alone? I’m going alone. Who is it, God gave us alone anyway. Exactly, brother, you’re right. Thank you. Come on, good luck to you too, brother. Thank you. [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] Do you go to school? Yes. How much? I switched to 5ş. 5ş. Is the school here? Which village? Down there. Yes. Is this your village? Huh? Your village’s school is down there. I will go to Ulu Baba from here. Have you ever gone? Yes. Oh, there is, I guess in that car. U baba will go. Take that road. I will go that road, right? It goes that road. If you go there is only one, the sign says Ulu Baba Tomb. If it goes above that, follow all the roads somewhere. Okay. It says Ulu Baba Tomb, go this way, you can already see it if you follow the road. There is a sign. Okay. There is a sign. One here, the other behind those mountains. So how’s your father’s road? Sir? How’s the road? Is it good? Good. An engine will come out. Huh. Very good. All the cars have been hit by tractors. Then an engine will come out too. Is this your friend? This is my cousin. Huh. What’s your name? Hüseyin. Hüseyin. What was your name? Berat. Berat. Okay Berat. Okay, guys. Take care of yourselves. Thank you. Thank you. [Music] Where is the road? [Music] [Music] [Music] Sister, does this road go to Ulu Baba or this one? Dude, you’re going straight like this, look. This black one is there before you get there, isn’t this road up there? You’re going this way, these new TOKI things. They have houses. Okay. You turn around the bend from there like this. Follow it like this. Oh. I went this far, I thought I probably took the wrong turn. There’s a sign here, it always leads to the wrong place. Exactly, sister. There was a sign there, but there wasn’t one here. When you get right down to the stream, look, the stream goes exactly like this. When you get down, okay, one goes towards that stream. It goes to the fields. It’s not that road. It goes directly up. This is it, dad. I’m going up, I mean, I’m not going down that road. You go right down to the stream like this. Okay. You go slowly, 50 meters or 100 meters. Two roads split into two. One goes down, the other up. Okay, does that road go down to the bridge? Is there a bridge like this? Fields. Oh, field road. Okay , sister . There’s a sign written there. If there is a sign. Okay. Thank you. Thank you. [Music] Yes friends, since there was no sign on the corner there , I took another road. I turned back. I’ll go up this road. Is this the road your sister was talking about, probably ? No. Is it over there? This probably goes to the village house. I left Gömüan village and arrived at Yazıbaşı, or Azıken village. This is the last village established on the slopes of Mount Ulubaba. Mount Ulubaba is located within the borders of Azken Village, which is affiliated with Adıyaman city center. I left Azıkan village behind. When I left, the challenging mountain roads had begun. This is where the adventure truly began. You can find short excerpts of this journey on my Adventures, Maceracı, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok accounts. I’m waiting for you to share longer road stories on my YouTube channel. Stay tuned for the rest of this adventure, my friends. Yeah.

Adventurer Maceracı olarak bu sefer rotamı Adıyaman’ın en yüksek dağlarından biri olan Ulubaba Dağı ve Türbesi’ne çevirdim. 🚵‍♂️⛰️

Yolculuğumda ilk durağım, 2016-2017 yıllarında ihalesi ve kamulaştırması yapılan Adıyaman Gömükan Barajı oldu. Motorsikletimle baraj gövdesi üzerinde ilerlerken bir yanda 2700 metre yüksekliğindeki Akdağ, diğer yanda 2600 metre yükseklikteki Ulubaba Dağı ile muhteşem bir manzaraya şahit oldum.

Ardından baraj suları altında kalacak olan Gömükan Köyü’nden geçerek, zorlu dağ yollarını aşıp Ulubaba Dağı eteğinde kurulu son köy Yazıbaşı (Azikan)’a ulaştım. Köyü dronumla havadan görüntüledim, biraz dinlendim ve ardından Ulubaba’ya doğru zorlu tırmanışa başladım.
