5 Days and a Jeep in Yosemite and Sierra Nevadas #california #yosemite #sierranevada #offroad

[Music] All right. So, we’re about an hour out from Yoseite. I’m here with my friend Cole and we’re going to be at Yusede soon. It’s going to be really fun. We got our backpack trip. It’s going to be an overnight um on the Pamama trail. We’re doing the four mile hike panorama with Glacier Point lookout and then we’re going to go down the Mist Falls. [Music] So, we’re about halfway up uh the four mile trail. The views are incredible. I mean, seeing all the granite face walls and the waterfalls are up here, the Merc River running between the valley, it’s pretty sweet. Cole’s killing on the hike. What do you got to say, Cole? It’s lit. I’m enjoying it. First vlog for the vine. Do it for the vine. For the vine. Do it for the vine. Yeah. Don’t listen to that guy. This is YouTube. We’re professional over here. All right. So, now we’re carrying up our stuff. It’s pretty heavy. All right. We’re about 2/3 of the way up and the views are just getting better. Any comments? It’s fun. Cool view. Clear skies. We’re at the top now. The views are unbelievable. The hike was pretty intense, way more than we anticipated. As you can see, we got the beautiful pamaranic view up here. We got the all the mist falls from the mist trail, which we’ll be hiking tomorrow. Half dome, the rest of Yusede Valley. We got Cole here. He made it like a champ. Yes, sir. Now we made it to the Pamarama Trail. We’ve been hiking it now for about half an hour. It’s really beautiful, full of so many different types of plants and flowers. And I see why they call it the panorama because you just go around the mountain side into the valley towards Ilo Creek. So it’s really pretty and it’s nice cuz also we did a little later in the day so the sun’s not on us but the sun is over on the waterfalls making them shine which is really pretty. So, I totally forgot to film it, but we were at this really cool lookout point and you could see the waterfall from Ilo Creek. It was beautiful. Here’s the creek now. There’s a bridge. There’s a bridge. We’re by the fire. Yep. We got a fire here. We got the tent set up over there. Pretty cool. Yeah. Let’s see this. Look at this. Second time camping in my entire life. And we are walking down from Glacier Point in obviously Yusede. And we run into people. Everyone here is so friendly. And they tell us to go to this point that overlooks half dome, has a fire pit, and is right in the grasp of everything. And we stumble across it. We see it. Like I said, my point being second time ever camping in my life and this is what I get. I thought this is your first time. Second night camping. So, okay. Second night. Very grateful to, you know, very lucky and grateful to be able to do this. Point being, let’s move on to what’s important. Crazy for me. Second night camping, being able to see this and do this. It’s dark out so you can’t see the view, but catch us in the morning and you’ll be able to see what it actually looks like and you’ll be quite surprised. All right, we’re waking up in the tent. We got an awesome view coming up. We found this really cool campsite. I’m going to show you this view. Yep. And there’s Halfdme. Oh, this got to be one of the best spots in the whole park. We can see everything here. It’s really nice. We are now headed out to the Miss Falls Trail to see all the waterfalls. Uh just packed up the tent and campsite, got it all good. Cole’s behind me. Let’s do it. And we’ll be there soon. Uh probably like an hour maybe on this trail and then we’ll be on the misfall trail. And it’s going to be really fun cuz all these waterfalls all meet up down at like one single point. And it’s just going to be misty wet as the name is Mist Trail. So this will be really cool. Last night though, that campsite was unbelievable. Can’t believe we even got it. and just sitting around by the fire and we like made dinner. Had mac and cheese with a jalapeno and we broke up a beef jerky for some protein. Put it inside. M very yummy. Then we just hung out with a bottle of whiskey and had a good night. All right, I’ll catch you later when we approach the Miss Falls. Uh before I go, take a look at this view on the panoramic trail now on a different side of the park. It’s really pretty. I can see one, two, I guess one, two waterfalls. Awesome view of Halfdme. And we can hear the rumble just down the valley. Right there is a bunch of other waterfalls. That’s where the mist trail is. Now, this waterfall also, this just the upstream river. I’m going to show you the actual fall part. It’s pretty crazy. This is a lot of water. We’ve now made it to Verno Falls. Really cool. Nice and cool and misty. Little rainbow down there. Beautiful. It’s pretty misty out here. This is what it’s like walking. There’s a lot of water everywhere. We have coal up there coming down in the gray. Oh, isn’t this cool? There’s like a little cave in the rock. Let’s go check it out. Oh, this is pretty sweet. So, not long ago, we were all the way up there, cross that valley, came around, and back to where we are now on this path. was absurd. Yes, it was. Ready to eat. Oh, yeah. This pizza is going and beer is going to be devoured soon. Almost there. Curry village point4 miles. So we’re right now driving out of Yusede Valley. We’re going to be headed to Twalamy area of the park which is to the west and a bit north and we’re going to be taking the Toga Road over there. We’re going to see some amazing views on the way. Finishing the hike though. We stopped at the pizza place. We met some other climbers and they were really cool. Pizza was great. Like hit the spot. Nailed it. And now we’re just driving out. So you can take a look at some of these nice views as we drive out of the valley. [Music] [Applause] Here’s [Music] the sign to Tyogga Pass. We’re about to be headed there soon and driving to to the other side of the park on the east side, which will be cool. East side. [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] Yeah, this lake is huge. And it’s cool. We still see snow up on the mountain. [Music] Now we’re in national forest outside of Yuseite. We just left a little bit ago. the geography just like completely did a 180 and change and it’s just like crazy mountains more rocky less granite less granite but still so cool. Yeah, beautiful. We’re right now driving towards Lake uh Mono and we’re going to be camping near there and then seeing the lake during the day. Um I’ll show you our campsite when we get there though. [Music] We got a fire set up and then Cole, show us the pan in the pot. Yes, sir. We’re boiling some sausages. We got the hot links going. We’re going to have And then we’re going to make some mashed potatoes with that. We got the sausages. Cook it over those coals. H. It’s going to be good eating tonight. It’s practically a Michelin star restaurant out here in the desert. Heat. [Music] [Music] Heat. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] [Music] All right. All right, so we just had lunch at a diner or brunch and we did some off-roading, which was really cool. Now we’re headed down to do some horseback riding at McGee uh pack station. We’re headed towards Mammoth Lakes and the mountains are beautiful still. Uh there’s snow patches all around them. [Music] All right. So, here we are in Ghee Canyon riding the horses. How you like Nicole? Let’s go up. Funny guy. Well, of course Cole’s horse likes to snack a lot, so you got to keep pulling on the rains. That’s true. [Music] [Music] Oh, what’s the name of this valley? This is McGee. We’re in McGee Valley. Yeah, McGee Canyon. It’s It’s Yeah, it’s named McGee Canyon. dogs. And then that is McGee right there. And then the brick on our left later, but that’s McGee. So, who’s McGee? That’s a really good question. I should probably know that. Do you know who McGee is? No. What’s McGee? I don’t know. That’s so funny. I’ve never even thought of that. This is one I wish we had service. We don’t have service in this canyon, so it’s like I can’t look it up. Oh, your horse got a big snack. I know. I tried stopping and he was hungry. [Music] We’re here now by uh June Lake walking around. This water is crystal clear. So beautiful. And this area is really cool. There’s a lot of trees which is nice cuz not all the lakes have it. And then the mountains still have snow on them. And I haven’t we went horseback riding, right? And one of the riders told us that people even in summer hike up these mountains to ski those patches of snow so they can ski every month of the year, which is pretty crazy. Oh, it’s so beautiful. Cole comments. It’s great. Water’s not even that cold. Cole might go swimming. I might go swimming. We’ll see. [Music] [Music] I’m [Music] We out here right now making some good ramen. This is one of the best dishes that we make camping. It’s so good. Look at this soup now. Brewing away. It’s steaming, bubbling. Yum. But it’s super important to keep mixing it because if I stop mixing this, it’s going to all stick to the bottom. Probably some of it will already, but this is one of those meals that’s fully worth every bit of effort. Oh, this is going to be so good. Let’s go. We cooking it up. This is some Gordon Ramsay. Look at that. Ooh, now it’s got bubbles. Food’s ready. Here it is. We got a jalapeno there. The meat. Oh, it’s so good in a nice corona. This is actually incredible. I’ve had This is like comparable to the stuff I’ve had in a restaurant. I’m not even joking. This is really good. Not joking. Because we’re going to be like leaving the campsite and there’s some other people that invited us over to theirs. We wanted to make sure everything would be safe. So, we hung our trash and food up in the tree. We found a branch and it was sticking out pretty well. We took a rock, tied it to a rope, threw it over, and that rope is now tied back to the tree over here so we can get our food tomorrow morning. And we know it’s pretty good. If a bear really wants to, it’ll get up there and get it. But at least we know that the food’s above the ground. Rats and other critters can’t get it to it, so it’s pretty safe. Super innovative. Yeah, Cole’s mind blown. I don’t know how he does it. It’s wild. Really is. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] Here [Music] we are in the ghost town of Bodie. This was an old mining ghost town that was abandoned once the um gold rush is over. Here we’re going to the chapel. It’s pretty cool. You can see that everything was left the way it was cuz this place was protected. [Music] Oh, I see some cool furniture. Look at that. There’s an old uh sewing machine in there. A bird cage, a painting, some chairs. Oh, this one’s cool. [Music] Bed. Another bed back there. [Music] Very cool. The old fence. Yeah. Wood stuff. Yeah. In this jail might look kind of small, but they would pack these cells tight. You can see one of the prison cells over there. The bars on the door and they be jam-packed. A lot of guys back here used to like to shoot, get really drunk and rowdy and they got they got to be locked up. This is where it happened. It’s cool. This looks like the old mining lift. [Music] Wow, look at that machinery. So big, so heavy. It’s crazy. Like back then they had to get it here by horse and buggy. I mean, no other way. that cable belt. It’s huge. [Music] Here’s a little bit of information. You could pause the video and look at it. So, now we’re on our way to Lake Tahoe, and we picked a route that goes through Nevada. This is my first time in Nevada. We’re going to make some stops along the way when we see something cool. And it’s pretty cool. Got to check off another state. [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] Here [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] we are now at Lake Tahoe. Beautiful. [Music] All right, we found a beach. So nice. Cole made friends with a dog that’s running away now. Oh, it feels so good to be out here. I mean, to be at the beach on the Lake Tahoe. This is really cool. We were not planning this. This is kind of spontaneous. It’s amazing. Water’s a little chilly, though. I went swimming. It’s about What’s the temperature of the water? 64°. Amazing. What are your thoughts, Cole? It’s great. All over. Water’s so clean and clear. It’s beautiful. All right, Cole. We got to get going soon. That sun’s going to come down and it’s going to get cold. We got to make tent uh camp and set up the tent. All right. All right, let’s get going. Sounds good. One last look at the lake. Rubicon Trail. Here we go. [Music] Heat. [Music] Heat. [Music] We were going through the stream little too fast and we popped a tire. You can see here, this is our tire. It’s pretty deflated. We just installed the backup tire and we’re going to keep going just a little slower this time. Cole, any comments? Uh, no comment. This is Cole’s first time changing a tire, by the way. Yeah. So, congrats to Cole. All right, let’s see what’s next. All right, it’s our last night camping out. We’re under the stars, which you can’t really see if the phone uh actually you can kind of see them. and some bugs. There’s Cole in his hammock. Yes, sir. Getting all cozy. We got a few layers on and that will keep me warm through the night and then when I wake up, it’s going to be beautiful. The sun’s going to rise and that will probably wake us up around few hours after it rises. We’ll also be setting alarm because we’re going to be driving to Sacramento to fly. Cole’s flying back to New York and I’m going to Oregon. Um, yeah, it’s been an awesome trip and this is a cool way to finish it. Taking this Jeep on some of the toughest terrain it’s been on yet, good night. [Music] Um, we woke up to the sun and the heat of the day. And now we’re driving along 86, which goes just along uh, Lake Tahoe. And the views are just beautiful of the lake, the scenery, the trees, and beautiful homes around here. Your turn to see it. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music]

On this epic road trip we drove across the Sierra Nevada Mountains and explored a huge part of Eastern California.
