Hiking tour / senderismo — San Sebastian la Cañada — Morelos, Mexico

[Music] also doesn’t look too promising. All right. Are we trapped in the nal field? Looks like we’re trapped in a battlefield. Yes. Avocado tree. So, we’re still trapped in this npal field. And we found these uh fruit trees, this fruit called nisperos. And so orange is the ripe color. Yes. Oh, these are a real mix. There’s a little bit of everything. Yeah. Yeah. The dark orange is the more right, but the the dark ones have a lot of bugs around them. All right, let’s try something here. Oh my god. The juice went flying 3 meters. Not bad. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It’s pretty sweet. Yeah. A little bit tart. Almost like a plum though. A bit. It’s got a pit like a plum. How many pits in a pear? You know damn well there’s more than two pits in a pair. No, I like it. Oh, it’s very good. Yeah. Yeah. The skin is a little bit tough. It’s almost like a The skin is thick. Unlike Donald Trump’s skin, which is quite thin. Yeah. It’s kind of like a peach. The skin is like peach but not fuzzy. Oops. Oops. I lost the I think I like those yellowish ones even more than the there’s one of the dark ones. Like a bit sour these yellow ones. Oh, I like that. Nos. Never heard of that before. I hope I don’t die or become violently ill. And bananas. We got everything on this hike. This is a very fruitful hike. No pales, avocados, nisperos, bananas. More food. I don’t never seen that before. Ah, this stick sucks. This is a new way. We can’t get back on track. We made the mistake of going through the uh noa field. Lots of avocados in here. No, no. Back. Yeah, I think over there I saw like two trees that we can go Feel like one place is has a bit of a gap. All right, I didn’t do a proper introduction. This is San Sebastian Laala. This is maybe the fourth or fifth time that we’ve done it. First time we’ve been trapped. we were starting to get despondent that we weren’t going to be able to find our way out of those uh no pile fields and would end up dying there. I that did cross my mind. Maybe Eric didn’t think about it, but I did. I thought my death is going to be in a nal field. So, we have made our way out. This is uh this has become the fruit hike. And yeah, around four or five times we’ve done this, it’s always a good one. This is uh around where the old train tracks used to run. that connected what to what this area to know what to what Puebla Mexico City something I think this is where when I mentioned earlier too that we got last lost here last time I think we went we went that way and we should have gone this way exactly exactly I hear voices up here yeah last time we went up here there’s a sign here saying don’t pick any Uh, wow. It’s what you expect. No weeds or garbage. Take any garbage out with you. Uh, watch out for I think it says recently planted trees. I think that’s what this says. It’s a It’s a rainy day in Pizzaville. It’s not rainy, but it is very cloudy. Here are the railroad tracks here. the start of the railroad track and we follow this for quite some time. I would say the the hallmark of this hike is the the the tunnel, right? Tunnel. Yes. Yeah. There’s a long tunnel. Long long tunnel that takes about I think it’s around 12 minutes to walk through. It’s probably close to a kilometer, maybe a little bit over a kilometer. Pure darkness. Very scary. That’s uh So, we go up here and then around and then back through that long tunnel. This uh this is a pretty decent hike. I like this one. And it’s very overgrown at this rainy time of year. This is the tunnel I was mentioning earlier. We don’t go through it from this side. We we come out of it. Uh, so we go up here and make a big loop and then you can see the end way down there. We’ll be entering from the far end and coming back out this end. I think this is where it might get a little tricky. No. Yes. To find our path or to I think finding it to start is okay. Might be hard to maintain. We’re having some difficulties. We’re going to It’s just far too thick to get through. We can’t really follow the trail. So, we’re going back down. We’re going to try doing in reverse going through the tunnel from this end, which we’ve never done before, and see what happens. But this is way too thick. We can’t can’t see anything. Can’t see any trail. I felt something on my leg and went to brush it off. I thought it was a fly or a leaf or something. And it’s this uh colored beauty. I believe this is a caterpillar is what that’s called. All right. And now we’re going to So, we’re walking through the tunnel now. As I said, doing it in reverse. We’ll see what happens. All right. Let’s see how long it takes to get to the dark section. It’s a excellent view. This is very cool. It looks much lighter on the camera than it does in my eyes. You got to be careful of the tunnel people that dwell within. Oh, it’s still getting darker. So, I’m not halfway. Still getting darker. Um maybe about a third of the Okay, fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck. Oh man. Oh, that was like completely covered my boots. Ah, let me try something different. Yeah, that water’s very deep. I’m going to have to go through this with a light. All right. I think it’s okay in the middle again. Must have been a low point where the water was collecting. Probably 65. 5%. I think it’s less muddy here. I think I can also I think I’m close enough to the end that I can turn the flashlight off. Yes. No, too much here in the middle. There we go. So, this is where we’re going to go. So, here’s the train tracks if you come out of the tunnel as I did follow here. But, we’re going to um I think we’ve Yeah, we’ve given up on trying to get to our normal destination today. It’s too cloudy, wet, and then we’d have to come back down where it’s very steep. So, we’re going to try something totally different. And you can see by Eric’s pants how messy this hike has been. Oh, yeah. Look at that. It’s getting cooler. No. Yep. It’s quite I wouldn’t say it’s chilly. Almost in the clouds. There’s a chill in the air as the clouds roll in. All right. So So we came from way over here. And I guess we’ll go down here and try to make a big loop. This is all going to be unknown territory from here. It’s corn. Are you ready? Ah, it’s corn. How the hell do I get out of here? This woman is picking. Ah, yeah. They are sillas. What is this? These these little plums. Oh, she’s got a couple of crates full of them. Oh, it didn’t feel like we went up that high. No, it was very gradual. Our incline. Oh, yeah. Look at this. N we’re now we’re still lower. We’re still lower, but uh way higher than I expected. We were supposed to be up there and then up there. Let’s take a look. There’s like a made out of order here. Not much to see. Yeah. I guess just as well that we didn’t go up there. There’s Uhhuh. nothing to see. Yep. These are all the uh well the npal fields at the beginning that we got stuck in. I guess they were all these ones around here. Those ones for sure. We started there at that well we parked over here. We came to that junction and instead of going this way we went that way and then got lost in the the in the great view on a clear day. over there. Is it too too muddy to go through? Oh, I think so. Yeah, even down the middle. Oh, yeah. It looks terrible. O. the right side of the tracks. It’s going to rain at any minute. Who knows how far it goes. We’re seeing something very peculiar here. So, we got this big no bow field here. And then there’s this, which we don’t know what it is, but there’s a sign on it saying the first one is no pregnant women. The second one is uh going to wash your equipment. There’s like a in this middle one there’s a picture of a gumball machine and a drinking cup. When is that? And uh no food or drink there. Uh and then there’s all these weird signs. I don’t know. No smoking, no pets, no food or beverage. Oh, it’s the same signs. A lot of them. No pregnant women. Let somebody know if you’re sick. No kids. Uh, let somebody know if you have diarrhea, vomiting, cold, or tell somebody if your liquids are uh contaminated with blood, sweat, and tears. No saliva, sweat, and blood. No watches, no bracelets, no earrings. No, Cowboys. Dallas Cowboys. The boys. What a strange country sometimes. There’s one caterpillar. Maybe the biggest bunch of bananas I’ve ever seen. Where is he going? You protector of the bananas. That’s a lot of bananas. That’s it. We’re finished for today. This turned out to be uh more of a a walk than a hike. Oh well, it’s one we’ve done before, so there was no loss. Weather didn’t cooperate. It was uh 2 hours 46 minutes. And that’s all today for this most uneventful hike. The car is revved up and ready to go. We’re in San Sebastian Laatta. We’ve been putting off a really cool waterfall hike. Maybe we’ll do that next week. See you.
