That’s right, we are in Mallorca, we’re here on holiday, so we’re going to take the opportunity to record
a bit of the city. In fact we are going to film the whole island. In this first video we are going to show you Palma and in

you’ll be notified every time we upload a new video. Exactly. So let’s get started! Palma de Mallorca is the capital city of the island of Mallorca
and of the autonomous community of the Balearic Islands. It’s located in the western part of
the Mediterranean Sea, more precisely in the Balearic Sea,
and is the largest island in Spain. Founded under the name of Palma by a Roman consul in 123 BC,
it was conquered in 903 by the Arabs. In particular, there are still numerous monumental remains
from that period, such as the Royal Palace of La Almudaina, the Arab baths, as well as the remains of the old city
that are buried under the present one. Well, we continue our tour of Palma’s old town. We believe that the island deserves
to be known as the “pearl of the Mediterranean”. In particular Palma is an amazing city and
its old town is very beautiful. A visit and a stroll through
its streets is a must. And remember to have lots and lots of water.
Yes, water and beer for others, haha. We keep going! As always how nice it’s to see cycling infrastructure.
Very nice, well marked, just the way we like it! I wish I had a bike for a ride,
this time it won’t be but next time for sure! As night fell,
the city’s illumination surprised us. We ended our day in a restaurant
on the “Paseo del Borne”, eating some delicious rabas with fried potatoes
accompanied by bread with alioli (garlic mayonnaise). The latter is a typical sauce
of Mediterranean gastronomy, a must if you are on a trip to the island. And one of the advantages of having stayed overnight
in Palma is that as the island is very small you can make day trips to its coves and beaches. Yes, public transport is very efficient so there
are amazing places to visit during the day. It’s also quite easy to pay. We recommend using
a debit/credit card, which has a discount. As you pay for more passengers
the ticket gets cheaper and cheaper. It must be checked in and out of the bus. It is very convenient and you can find the prices on the
official website of the public transport of the Balearic Islands. Below, in the description of the video,
we leave you all the information. So Noe, where are we? We are in the “Plaza Mayor”,
which is something typical here in Spain. In fact, you will find something similar in many
Spanish cities, even with the same architecture. It was in the past a convent and later
served as the seat of the inquisition. As a more recent historical fact,
mass tourism on the island began in the 1950s. As a result, the city became a
top holiday destination, which led to significant
demographic and economic growth. Currently, approximately 80% of the population is
engaged in tourism, making it the main economic mainstay. Its second most important activity is agriculture particularly of products such as
almonds, oranges, lemons and olives, which decorate the island’s rupestrian landscape. One of the things that surprised us most
about Palma were its Arab vestiges, which are due to all the centuries
they were under Arab domination, it’s surprising. Finally, we’ve come to the end of Palma’s video. We hope you enjoyed the video

but every time you come here you find new things. The island is worth a visit both
in winter and summer, at any time of the year. Particularly if you come in summer there are
plenty of coves and beaches to explore. Yes, there is plenty to do.
