Royal Secrets Hidden in Seville’s Alcázar Palace 🏰
I’m a tour guide in the Alcasar of Seville and this is the Hall of Ambassadors. It might look familiar to you because of Game of Thrones, but did you know that this place really lived a game of thrones? In the 1300s, when the king Pedro ordered the construction of this palace, he gained a lot of enemies, including his own half brothers that accused him of favoring the minorities, the Jews and the Muslims. Because of this, Pedro captured one of his brothers and incarcerated him in the palace. Eventually, he ordered his execution that apparently happened in one of these rooms. That would lead to an even more aggressive war against the king Pedro. and eventually his older brother Enrique took his life. That is why you can see up there that we have some portraits representing the different Christian kings. You can see that next to Pedro we have Enrique and then next to Enrique the rest of the kings that we have in this corner are his descendants. That means that there was a change of dynasty and the change of dynasty would change the history of the world forever because that is the dynasty of the Catholic monarchs. The Queen of the Catholic is the one that sent Christopher Columbus on the expeditions to the Americas. So if this hadn’t happened here, the history would be very different.
