We stepped into the opulent Royal Palace of Madrid, where gilded halls and dazzling chandeliers transport you to the grandeur of Spanish royalty, with the quirky twist of spotting the world’s only Stradivarius string quartet on display. Just across the plaza, the Almudena Cathedral stunned us with its vibrant frescoes, soaring Gothic arches, and a free concert, offering a serene escape and a chance to marvel at its quirky mix of modern and traditional art. On the streets, policemen patrolled on their magnificent horses. We wrapped up your visit with a playful hunt for the best churros nearby, soaking in the lively buzz of Madrid’s historic heart.
