What to Know About BLM Camping

Bureau of Land Management, abbreviated as BLM.
How is BLM land any different from national or say state parks? Well, BLM land is public land
that is mandated for multiple uses and usually a great place to find free camping. BLM oversees
more than 245 million acers of public lands. They look after more land than any other agency,
and protecting about 80% of the nations minerals. However, most BLM lands are
found in the western states, Sorry east coast friends. You can filter by the
type of land. So here I’ve selected BLM and lots of locations pop up. Many of times the Bureau of
Land Management or BLM allows dispersed camping or boondocking, so free. and near national
monuments or off highway vehicle areas. I can check out the reviews and plan accordingly,
while being mindful of the season as some locations are seasonal. Reading the reviews in
the app is super helpful to find GPS coordinates and directions to find these
unmarked dispersed campgrounds. Dispersed camping is great, it’s free, but it’s
a little bit of a scavenger hunt to find it and you’ll usually come across plots like this where
you can see its been flattened out by a vehicle and other people camping. Do your best to reuse
these so that we’re not destroying the environment any further. The Bureau of Land Management
allows you to stay for up to fourteen days in dispersed camping. As this is technically
public land and your not allowed to build on it. As always follow the leave no trace outdoor ethics
and pack everything up and out with you. Maybe you’re not totally into roughing it with dispersed
camping, not to worry BLM land also does have some developed campgrounds. And these campgrounds
usually just ask for a small fee to help maintain the campground. Usually BLM campgrounds
are first come first serve yet a few do take reservations online. These are supposed to be
paid within thirty minutes of claiming your spot, likely to one of these. Using the Campendium app
is a really good way to see what amenities are going to be there waiting for you. If you’re
into bargain camping BLM land is the ticket. BLM has a large variety of activities for
your next adventure. So with Bureau of Land Management its got millions of acers,
tons of different outdoor activities and super affordable if not free camping.
Maybe a BLM adventure is next for you. Comment below your favorite location,
and I will see you in the next one.

Did you know that the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) oversees more than 245 million acres of land in the U.S.? These public lands are great for camping at little to no cost and offer a variety of outdoor recreation opportunities. While most of these properties offer dispersed camping and boondocking sites, some have more developed campgrounds with RV hookups and other amenities.

Here’s how you can find the perfect BLM campsite using Campendium, and what you should know before you camp on these public lands.

🏕️Filter your campsites. On Campendium, you can filter campground types to only show BLM locations. This way, you can start your campsite search in the right direction.

ℹ️Read reviews. Campendium reviews allow you to see what other campers say about each campground. From campsite images to cell phone coverage, these reviews provide valuable information you need to know to prepare for your trip.

🌲Reuse existing sites. Most BLM campsites are designed for dispersed camping and boondocking, meaning the existing sites are usually only marked by cleared, flat areas where others have set up camp. Be sure to use these sites in an effort to not disrupt the environment.

🗓️Stay limits. On most BLM lands, you can camp up to 14 consecutive days within a 28-day period. Plan your trip accordingly and don’t overstay your limit so others can enjoy these lands as well.

🗑️Leave No Trace. Always abide by Leave No Trace guidelines and pack out everything that you brought with you, including garbage. This way, others can enjoy these lands for years to come.

🔌Developed campgrounds. If you’re not looking for dispersed camping and boondocking sites, some BLM destinations offer more developed campgrounds with hookups and some amenities (for a small fee.) You can use the Campendium app to see what amenities and features each campground offers.

🎣Outdoor activities. BLM land typically offers a variety of outdoor activities from hiking to fishing, biking, hunting, and more.

  1. Goose Island is a FCFS BLM campsite and is between Moab, Utah and Arches National Park. It has a small camping charge and includes outhouses with no water. I've camped there 4 times. The restrooms are usually smelly, but the convenience and low cost makes it a desirable night stay.

  2. Black Lives Matter camping is exploiting African American lives for the benefit of campervan owners. Prove me wrong, or I'll bet you voted for Joe Biden.

  3. Using the Campendium app and it doesn’t allow you to select BLM as a filter option. The screen you showed had a lot of options that aren’t on the app.

  4. A) I am NOT telling you my secret spots.

    B) If anyone is ever in Lake Havasu, AZ, stop but the BLM office there. There is a guy there who can tell you where ask the best spots are for EXACTLY the thin you want to do. He's like a free travel guide for all the free camping and recreation.

  5. i love BLM camping so much that i decided to go to one of their rallies but it got really out of hand and they tried to burn down the city. i guess they wanted to create more camping spots. now there’s tents lining those streets so i guess they were successful

  6. Yakima canyon road was great! Even tho we had to evacuate from a forest fire, it was an unforgettable night and everyone is safe, and we found a safer spot to stay the night thanks to BLM campsites along the road. Learned what BLM was that night and will be for sure staying on BLM land in the future!

  7. Because the absolute defamation and disrespect of Our Land by the EPA and other government agencies I go and camp where I want to explore what I want to explore I don't let government fences get in my way

  8. You make videos like you're making them for a 5-year-old kid who don't know anything what you need to tell who what when where and why we know what Blm means you need to give the details. I don't know of any public lands that has trees every place I know is hundreds of miles off the dirt road and no trees

  9. Your app is now useless, so now, so is this video. Also, using blm land requires informing the agency of your location which you didn't cover at all. Trash video now

  10. One thing i know for sure is that the American people's public lands have been taken over by the oligarchy, old and young alike can't afford to rent a home, during this crisis more armed forces have been sent to make sure Americans have no place to stay.this is what the unlimited greed of the oligarchy does to us .

  11. As people escape city life and migrate into wilderness in hope of reclaiming a version of living free, the oligarchs are following covertly through agencies like BLM. I don’t like to be a Debbie downer, but if the years leading up to 2020 and beyond isn’t proof enough of what happens when psychopaths run wild, I’m not sure what needs to happen before people realize they are coming for the little free land that remains.

  12. one blm rule/law is no shooting within 150 yards of any camp site that’s 3feet x 150 but don’t worry they will not come out unless you get shot,
