Challenge at Fallen Leaf Campground – Lake Tahoe Basin
[Music] Have you been to California? Well, honey, I have a challenge. Yes. If you want to take off all your clothes and get in that water, I will give you $1,000. Alison, would you really? Yeah. [Music] Burning sky both had a reason to live. With so much more to die, will fate decide. Who has to go? Greetings and thank you for joining us at California Travel Videos. Today we will be going to Fallen Leaf Campground in the Lake Tahoe area where we will not only review the campground, but also highlight some of the nearby trails that are easy access, offering a wealth of scenic beauty and fun activities. Be sure to stay tuned and find out if Michael takes me up on that $1,000 challenge. Would you? Okay, here we are, October 1st, 2025, and we are getting ready to take off for our anniversary trip. 10 years of holy matrimony. Yep, I got it. What do you think? I hope you like it. Okay, so stop one is to pick up Michael’s ebike. It’s been damaged since he went to Arizona on his own down to Courtzside back in 2021. So yeah, about four years he’s been riding with less imperfection. And today we’re getting that taken care of. So we both have our ebikes running again. Hip hip hooray. And we are looking forward to time off for good behavior. But I think there might be a problem. Hold on. What’s the issue? Um, what typically happens is the illusion of communication. So, um, when I when I said I’d like to see about getting the cable changed for the gear shift, and they said, “Yeah, okay. Bring it in Tuesday.” I said, “Well, I need it on Wednesday 10:00 a.m. Okay, that’ll be fine.” So, now they’re saying, “Oh, tomorrow.” And I said, “Oh, so any rate, they said they’ll probably get half.” Okay. I hope so. A few moments later. One eternity later. On the road again. I just can’t wait to get on the road again. Going places that I’ve never been. Seeing things that I may never see again. Like a band of gypsies. We go down the highway cuz we’re the best of friends. So, we are here and we are parked at Fallen Leaf Campground. Not too far from the Lake Fallen Leaf and not too far from Lake Tahoe. I look like a ghost out here. Woo! But yeah, there’s bears everywhere. Remember to always be bear aware, listen to nature when camping. Keep a clean campsite. Safely store food and scented items in a bear locker. And be sure to throw all your trash in the dumpster. Okay. 10 second timer. No. We got your happy face on. Yeah. Are you ready for action? Three, two. There we go. There’s the campground and we’re number 102. That’s the entrance. And um we’re just in that first loop right there. And um must be pretty flat except for this spot here because everything looks to be near one another, but our spot was very flat. Bike path is between 6 and 7. Really a nice campground. We can see this is a national forest service by the way. And so what is the rate for us seniors we pay is 36 normal 18 all seniors that have the golden card. So can’t beat that. And it really nice facilities here. They have um flush toilets and no hookups, but that’s okay. We’re good to go. [Music] Beautiful uh bike path here. Nice and paved. 20 mph. Okay, so she says bikes 20 m an hour top speed. black bear. I guess if they’re real hungry and slender in good athletic condition, etc., etc., maybe angry, they’ll go 30. So, I’m looking at a map here. And so, I don’t know if you can see this very well, but um it looks like, zooming out, looks like there’s Lake Tahoe right straight ahead of us. Looks like Camp Richardson is to the right of us. I think we want to go to the right, Grace. That’s going to be the way to be going to the um city of Lake Tahoe. Shil lead. Yeah, I think so. Okay. [Music] Camp Richardson Resort and Marina. [Music] After leaving Camp Richardson, the bike trail took us through quite a few residential neighborhoods and became a little bit more difficult to follow. When the rain came, it was a good idea to take a break and have some lunch. We are in having a great meal at Crazy Good. Did you enjoy your lunch? It was crazy expensive, but it was good. It was It was a nice place to hang. Okay, so we got our fortification and off we go to continue on. Taliho. All right, dear Eloise. I think we kept going on and eventually we did a couple Well, we weren’t lost. We were just perplexed. But here we are um at the start of the trail head. It says, and as you can see, it says Lake View Commons, 2 and 1/2 miles, or we’re going to go all the way, I think, to the state line. Woohoo. 4.7 miles ahead. Okay, we are by the east side of Lake Aulu. We finally did it. Beautiful footsteps of our past suspended in time. A black bear representing native wildlife. A washo basket weaver representing indigenous heritage. A sailboat representing the first mail delivery and a skier representing recreation around the lake. How cool. As you look over here, you can see where the state line is, where all the hotels are. So, that’s where we’re going to be heading. [Applause] When you get to Lake Tahoe and you’re hungry, I get them country potatoes. Seven. And this gift store is the perfect little place to drop some green and keep the economy moving. make California with a little bit of what we have left. Green. I don’t know what happened to our bike path here. Fortunately, there’s not a lot of people around today. Oh, that firewood felt good when we went by. Oh, honey. You think we need to make a stop? Found the fire to keep warm cuz it’s so cold in October. [Music] I think we are here. I think since um this is where there’s Harris and um what is this? Caesars on the other side where we’re at. Yep. We are here, baby doll. Welcome to Nevada. We are from California to Nevada. How do you feel about that? I feel good. [Music] Okay, very important information here. This is spot 84 and right across from spot 84, trail to Fallen Leaf Lake. Well, honey, I have a challenge. Yes. If you want to take off all your clothes and get in that water, I will give you $1,000. Alison, would you really? Yeah. Wait a second. Where’s my towel when I get out? You don’t have one. Ah, forget it. Buddy. Oh, he looks like a dinosaur. Oh, no. He’s cute. The perfect 36 is conveniently located on the main road or right off the main road. And it’s got this beautiful level spot to park an RV and maybe even an extra car. And it’s got a couple little areas where you could probably have a tent. And it’s across from the bathrooms. So, I think that’s a win-win. You might even get a little solar. You see the sun’s shining right there if you parked on this side. And then you got open in the trees. So, possibly Starlink. I don’t know about the direction of that, but yeah, I think 36 is pretty the perfect 36. So, this concludes our two-day stay at Fallen Leaf Campground here in the Sierras near Lake Tahoe. I absolutely loved it. And back in, I’d say it’s about as good as it gets. So, we had great bike rides over to Lake Tahoe up to the state of Nevada and back. It was about 10 mi each way. And we’re about what, a quarter half mile from the lake. Nice walk. Or you could take your bike nearby also from the nearby lake. So, yeah, it’s about a crispy 7,000 ft up here. And so, I guess they’re shutting down a lot of them in October. But, uh, we got our money’s worth, didn’t we? We definitely didn’t. For us seniors, we got our half off money’s worth and we were able to spend it on fruit. Yeah. As we go down Highway 395, we have not made any reservations. So, I think National Forest Service um, just kind of pick a spot is what we’re going to be doing. So, um, stay tuned. We’re going to have a lot more. And in October, have gloves and a bikini cuz you never know what you’re going to get. Until next time, this is Michael and Grace. Peace out. Peace out. Bye for now. Happy trails. Have you been to California? Seen the sights and people there. Walked the streets of sleepy sea towns. Tasted salty ocean air.
Let’s enjoy RVing in Sierra Mountains in Early-October , starting off at Fallen Lake Campground almost touching Lake Tahoe (on the map). Check out Grace and Michael e-Bike adventures on the East Side of the Sierra Mountain range before heading down Highway 395.
