Top 5 Cathedrals You Must Visit in your Lifetime!
In this video, I’ll reveal the five most iconic
Catholic cathedrals on Earth, where history, art, and devotion come together in ways that words can
hardly capture. Number Five. Notredam de Perry in France. Standing tall since 1163, Notredam has
witnessed kings crowned, revolutions unfold, and countless candles lit in prayer. But did you know
those menacing gargoyles actually serve a purpose? Each one channels rainwater away from the stone,
saving the structure from erosion for more than 800 years. After the devastating 2019 fire, its
rebirth is underway, and soon millions will once again step beneath its vaulted ceiling. Number
four, Milan Cathedral, Duomo de Milano in Italy. Fact: a tiny golden statue of the Virgin Mary,
La Madonina, crowns its highest spire. And no building in Milan was allowed to rise taller
than her for over 100 years. It took 579 years to finish this marble masterpiece. But Milan’s Duomo
was worth every chisel. Rising like a mountain of faith, it’s topped by Lamadonina, a golden
guardian watching over the city. For generations, Milan skyline stayed loyal, keeping every new
building shorter than her. Walk the rooftop at sunset and you’ll see angels, gargoyles, and
360° views of the Al. Number three, Cologne Cathedral in Germany. Fact. Inside lies the Golden
Shrine of the Three Kings. Said to contain relics of the magi who visited baby Jesus with spires
piercing 515 ft into the sky. Cologne Cathedral took over 600 years to complete. Inside, one
of Christianity’s most sacred treasures gleams, the shrine of the three kings, crafted from
over 1,000 precious stones. Pilgrims have crossed continents for centuries to stand before
it. Even Allied bombs couldn’t destroy this Gothic wonder. It stood defiant amid the ruins of war.
Number two, St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican City. Fact. Beneath the Basilica lies the
tomb of St. Peter, one of Jesus’s apostles, making this the spiritual heart of Catholicism.
In the world’s smallest country stands the largest church on earth. St. Peter’s Basilica is both
an architectural marvel and a sacred burial site. Below its marble floors rests St. Peter
himself, the first pope martyred in Rome. From Michelangelo’s Pieta to Bernini’s Baldickin, every
corner radiates centuries of devotion and art. Number one, Sigrada Familia in Barcelona,
Spain. Fact, when Antony Gaudi died in 1926, less than 25% of the Sagrada Familia was
finished and construction has been funded entirely by private donations and ticket sales
ever since. A cathedral still under construction and yet the most visited in the world. Gaudi’s
Sigrada Familia is faith turned into art, blending geometry, nature, and light in a way
no one had ever imagined. When Gaudy died, the project paused through war and time. But
today, his dream continues. Built not by kings or governments, but by people who believe in
beauty. And there you have it. Five cathedrals, five stories, and countless prayers carved
in stone. Each one reminds us that faith, like art, is built one generation at
a time. So, which cathedral would you visit first? Let me know in the comments,
