Sierra Nevada North Face: Reaching the Ski Resort in Summer (Part 9)
Welcome back to Part 9 of my Sierra Nevada motorcycle adventure!
We start this episode near Guadix, tackling the North Face of the mountain range. After a “glorious navigation mistake” near Purullena, I find the scenic route through La Peza, passing the Quéntar reservoir and Dúdar.
From Pinos Genil, the real climb begins. We head up towards the Sierra Nevada Ski Resort (Pradollano). It’s a surreal experience arriving at Spain’s winter capital in the middle of August with temperatures hitting 30ºC.
We climb all the way to Hoya de la Mora at 2,500m (8,200ft), where the road officially ends. Along the way, we prove that for some people, snow is definitely optional.
