Football, culture and recreation in Madrid 🇪🇸 Bernabéu Stadium, Royal Palace & El Retiro Park

Today’s our last full day in Madrid, Spain and of our 4-week Europe trip. We started off the day visiting Real Madrid’s famed Bernabéu stadium where we gawked at their massive trophy cabinets and marveled at their modern stadium.

We then got our hands on some of Madrid’s best paella where we devoured an entire pan (yes, pan!) of delicious smokey seafood rice before finishing up with a Basque cheesecake.

After lunch, we headed to the Royal Palace where Michelle assessed the many chandeliers hanging from the ceilings of the vast building and strolled around the palace grounds which offered great views of the city.

We spent the rest of the afternoon at El Retiro Park – Madrid’s main park. Here you’ll find interesting-looking trees, a massive pond and an impressive monument of Alfonso XII.

We ended the day with an amazing dinner eating Spain’s famed suckling pig and walking around the streets.

As we prepared to head back to New York, we were met with a large group of reporters and cameramen – apparently the Prime Minister was visiting our hotel! After the near-miss we hopped onto our Uber towards the airport as we reflected on our 4 week adventure across Europe.
