ABOUT US

Welcome to Grand Adventure, a YouTube channel that focuses on RV-centric outdoor activities including not only of course camping, but also mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, skiing and more, always filmed in stunning 4K.

We’re based in Salt Lake City, Utah during the winter months, and invite you to come along as we travel all around the U.S. My wife Patricia and I, and dog Zoe are avid boondockers, so while you’ll occasionally find us in RV parks or even dry campgrounds, we’re usually camped in some of the most remote and beautiful spots that you could ever pull a travel trailer into. We’ve now transitioned from “long-timing” for six months a year, to living and traveling in our RV full-time.

We’ll provide beautiful travel videos, as well as some tips and insight on trip planning, and equipping and maintaining your RV to make your next adventure a grand one indeed! So, subscribe to make sure that you catch every episode, and remember…life is nothing but a Grand Adventure!

  1. My mon was from Ely. We went to Ely to see our aunts and uncle in the 60s.
My dad and I fished cave lake in the 60s. I still Love to eat pine nuts.

  2. Thanks Marc for this great video! The bee hive charcoal furnaces were so cool; we didn't know about making charcoal until we saw a similar (yet different kind of structure) for doing that at Land Between the Lakes Rec area in KY. Great Basin looks like a must see….it wasn't on my radar but now is, Thanks!! Be well!

  3. That little ghost town, where the train turned backed into, is the little ghost town that a non-profit organization does Wild West shows, Train Robberies and such.. I know, I live in Ely and is part of that group that does video for the shows and train robberies. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jBtVR5Pm-NY&t=59s This was Mother's Day Train Robbery/Handing out cards to the Mother's as they rode free that day. And what, no pictures of Dirt and DJ, the trains cats in the machine shop?

  4. Are you still partnered up with the Dyrt Pro? And is it a good app? I would like just 1 good camping app…thanks
I enjoy your videos, Happy Trails!

  5. Love my hometown of Ely NV! We were up there the first week of May also. Crazy wind! We live in Phoenix now and often wonder how we ever survived the cold in Ely!

  6. As always your videos are very interesting, the ovens were amazing never knew those even existed, the small towns were neet to see, and the train ride looked fun. travel safe

  7. We had a car transporter bring 3 vehicles up here to Idaho and he arrived May 12th. He went through Ely and slept there the night of May 11th and got snowed on. Same weather as you.

  8. Thanks for showing me that I have pronouncing “Ely” incorrectly all this time.

That was interesting about the ovens.

My father was a railroad buff and would have loved this video. He probably went to this museum.

Being and engineer, I enjoyed the shots of inside the machine shop.

Mount Wheeler was spectacular! Photos just don’t do it justice.

    Thanks for sharing.

  9. As if you tube doesn’t already crowd us with advertisements, we now have to joy of individual channel operators offering us even more ads!

  10. This was really cool! I was this close to being able to ride one of these trains in Silverton, CO and ultimately did not do it so to have first front row view is pretty darn cool. Just from this video I think Nevada has a New Mexico sort of vibe in terms of climate and flora. Hmm you mentioned Kennekot. Aren't they that giant mine just south of Provo somewhere? Looks like they have been operating in business for a long long time.

  11. I am not even sure it was this video, but If it was you were talking about how Ely is pronounced. Many people pronounce it E-lye it is prounounced by locals as E-lee. nice video.

  12. I was just in Ely last week taking Highway 50 from Carson City to Utah. I spent the night at Great Basin National Park. Thanks for the excellent video.

  13. Awesome 😎 did this whole trip 2 years ago on 4Th of July, stayed at the lower Cave Lake campground, and then did day trip to Great Basin, and the charcoal ovens, such a fun time, that was before I decided to do a YouTube channel 😅 You do a very good job explaining everything, and educating us , someday I will be good at it like you 👋 Have fun out there and we will see you on the road someday.
