This hands-on, exhibition coal mine in Beckley, West Virginia has a mining museum, a miner and mounteer homestead and a youth museum (for creative play.) Then the tour takes you underground in a non-producing coal mine that has been restored for educational purposes. The tour guides were miners themselves for several decades and are a wealth of knowledge and good stories! (Thanks Mike for a wonderful tour!) We stayed three hours here before we had to leave! This was an excellent find on our road trip.
