quick trip through Death Valley National Park a few days after the July 2021 Heat Wave after passing through Convict Lake and the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest.
A few days earlier temperatures hit 130F. It won’t get quite that hot, but close. Bonus, the last few days of heat has stirred up some moisture from the surrounding Mountains to generate Monsoons, short powerful storms. Rain in the summer is a rare event out here and it happened all over the desert and mountain region over the next couple of weeks!
I can try and answer any questions in the comments below.
my Death Valley playlist, full of Park videos detailing various regions and hikes is found here

please check my channel for other videos from this trip! i will link some of them here as they are posted.
Thanks For Watching!

  1. That lake looked amazing! I would have jumped in to cool off! Wow, no shade at all. I guess thats why they call it Death Valley. I bet that pool felt so good!

  2. 120 is hot no matter what, but having experienced temperatures in the 110 range in Arizona I found it more tolerable, thanks to the very dry air, than the low and especially mid 90's with high humidity.
Speaking of weather events, as Hurricane Henri approached Long Island this past weekend the breathless media reports – complete with "Storm Team" reporting – made one think we were about to experience Armageddon, the meteorological version of the Siege of Leningrad though (presumably) without the cannibalism. Even the power company was warning of blackouts lasting 10 to 14 days. It turned out, of course, to be a big heaping pile of nothing.

  3. Wow, that is some serious heat!! But cool to see the rain at the same time. What a great place… that hot and that far below sea level. The pool looked very refreshing, glad you guys could cool off. Too bad about the truck exhaust, but sounds like you fixed it up good. Great trip guys, thanks for the tour.

  4. Must be so nice to be out there all by yourselves. Love those Bristlecone Pines – didn't realize they were so close to DV. 127 degrees… wow! Recall good times with friends that pool!

  5. Great trip report! Yes that lake does look awesome, I will watch the separate video on that. The storms you caught gave you some interesting footage. Wow it was hot out there. Its been a very hot summer everywhere. We spent a few hours in 108 degree heat in the Bighorn Basin back in July. I don’t think I’ve ever been that hot. Wish we had that awesome pool to swim in back then lol. Man that tire really blew up. Nice roadside mod on your tail pipe. I probably would have just taken a hack saw to it if it happened to me lol. I’m actually considering an exhaust system delete but haven’t decided yet. I should think about carrying two spares too. I don’t normally have to worry about extreme temps like you often deal with but some of my trips are very long and in remote places with no cell phone service. I can buy a wheel and tire for less than what an off-road wrecker would charge so definitely something to consider.
