✨ About Always Away:
We are Dominic and Emma. Travelling together as a couple for the last 10 years, we started off backpacking through South East Asia and in 2016 began vanlife as a means to travel with our pug, Percy. We’ve lived out of all kinds of vans in both Europe and Japan and, after some time living in Thailand as teachers, we’re back on the road in Europe! Subscribe for all things vanlife and travel 🙌🏼

After self building our Renault Kangoo Micro Camper in 2018 we have slowly upgraded vans over the years (Mercedes Sprinter Conversion, Renault Trafic, Peaguot Boxer selfbuild, VW T25’s and Fiat Ducato Hymer Motorhome…) We now know exactly what we want in a van and we found that in the Bailey Advance 74-4 2019 Motorhome. It’s now our full time tiny home on wheels which we’re travelling around Europe in before we head back to the UK to try our hand at full time UK vanlife while working.

  1. Great Q&A – I can’t think of any other questions I would like you to answer. I would be very interested in hearing about Emma’s ADHD – I hope I don’t sound flippant, but this didn’t really “exist” 40 years ago when I was at school, and I really don’t understand what it’s all about and why it seems so common now. Having written your thesis about it, I would love to hear your perspective. With regard to vanlife in Cyprus, inspired by your channel, I actually did a bit of research. Unfortunately it doesn’t seem to be a thing here. I found one company that will hire you a vintage VW van but there are no organized sites. Transporting Gino here by container ship would take 2 weeks and cost a fortune. During the summer months there are ferries than come here from Greece, but unless Gino has amazing air conditioning it would be a nightmare – temperatures can easily get to 40C in July and August. It’s a shame because Cyprus is an amazing place – we have wonderful mountains, nature, pine forests, archeological sites, food, culture, friendly people etc that most tourists don’t bother with. Of course you would be welcome to squat on my drive – you never know, if you behaved yourselves I might even let you in the house! Oh, I’ve thought of a question – Dom – what the hell was that accent when you were singing that Smiths’ song?😂 Anyway, have a great Christmas, New Year etc and I look forward to seeing what comes next.❤👍

  2. Merry Christmas to both of you funny and such genuine nice people. So exciting to hear my favorite YouTube channel read my questions. I am off to my family's get together with our family of five. Life is good, kindness is free and wishing all positivity in whatever may be going through ❤

  3. Loved this Q&A, really excited for your plans ahead for 2025.

Also looking forward to your podcast return! The ADHD talk (and Emma's thesis) sounds really interesting! 😊❤

  4. What exactly is in a pastie normally? I only know vaguely what they are because I'm Harry Potter there are pumpkin pasties witch now so my illusions are shattered due to finding out that pumpkin pie is not a thing over there, reading the books that's what I always imagined and that's what we got at universal hogsemede…?

  5. Wait WHAT. Out of the two of you I would've figured Dom had ADHD 😂

I'm glad I asked the question tho. My wife has wanted me to get tested for ages. My attention span is so short I sometimes just stop typ

  6. Good lighting, cute dog, a fun edit with my chatGPT generated questions! a win for me lol ! full confession, all my questions were from AI 😂

  7. It would be great if you could go to New Zealand someday! The flights (and jetlag) are brutal, but well worth it! Especially the south island is stunning. Australia is gorgeous too and the wildlife is so special.

I have never been diagnosed, but I highly suspect I have ADD. Have done for a while. A lot of the things you mentioned, I recognise in myself. I am just all over the place! 🤪 For now I call it ASD, Attention… SQUIRREL Disorder. I am so easily distracted… it's hard sometimes. SQUIRREL! 🐿

I do hope you make it to NL sometime in the coming year. And I love watching your Europe vlogs as I haven't visited many countries in Europe. I really should. 🤔

    And Merry Christmas! ✨️🎄🐿

  8. Merry Christmas 🥳🎄 I hope you get to do everything you want to in 2025 and beyond 🙏 The new Thailand visas have definitely made it easier to stay here longer but the flight prices these days 💀

  9. You made my Christmas Day answering my question, it made me laugh. It ended our Christmas Day in Australia, with a smile. And if you ever do end up down under you must let us know. You can borrow my hardly ever used caravan that's waiting here with your name on it 😄🎄🤶

  10. Well that was great! Thanks for answering my question. Oh you had us in stitches Dom with your singing today too! Who knew Emma liked to dance in the kitchen 😃. Dom needs to sing more often too!!! 😂. Merry Christmas! 🎄
