As the name indicates, Cala Formentor is located on the Formentor peninsula in the north-eastern part of Mallorca. From the town Puerto Pollensa, the distance is approx. 6 km by car through mountain country.
There is a lovely vista point a few kilometres before you reach Cala Formentor. Here it is possible to park your car and enjoy the breathtaking view.
The beach in general
Cala Formentor is one of the finest natural beaches in Mallorca, surrounded by woods and the Tramuntana mountains.
The beach is almost one kilometre long, however, it is quite narrow. The sand is fine-grained and bright. The water is very clear and has beautiful turquoise shades.
The beach has all the usual facilities, such as sun lounges, sunshades, showers and toilets. During the summer, the beach is supervised by a lifeguard.
Cala Formentor is a popular beach, particularly in July/August, and it is recommended to come around 10-11 in the morning. There is a large parking place with shade for your car. It costs around 7-10 Euros, but many people park their cars along the road instead.
Child-friendliness
The beach has rather shallow water and is well protected against waves. The only drawback is that it does not have much room to play ball or other games that require a bit more space.
Beach restaurants
There are two restaurants at the beach. One of them is located in the middle of the beach next to a tourist shop. The other one is located a bit further to the east and this one is more quiet and exclusive. There is also an ice cream stand near the beach entrance.
