Bioparc Valencia – a must see zoo in Europe? | Zoo Review
Valencia has a lot more to offer beyond the famous City of Arts and Sciences!
For example, there’s the Oceanogràfic — and of course, BIOPARC Valencia, which immediately stands out with its elaborate landscapes and strong focus on African wildlife. At first glance, it feels like a truly unique park.
But how good is this unusual zoo really? Is it all just impressive scenery, or does the park also deliver in terms of exceptional animal care? Is it worth a visit? And should every zoo enthusiast have this destination on their bucket list?

The cranes that are housed with the eastern bongos and red forest duikers are actually black crowned cranes.
If you want to see an outstanding leopard enclosure, I would recommend Ussuri Falls at Colchester Zoo which is a very lush enclosure with some very nice faux rocks.
Exited to see you make a Bratislava zoo review. 😅. It has changed, but it still needs some work. 😢
14:08 when I visited that aviary (2021) they aso had the last klipspringer in Europe. He (Calypso) died in december that year by old age..
How long does it take to walk round this zoo?
I agree with your comments. I visited this zoo on a very hot day, and the only shade the chimps had was under the rocky over-hands around the walls. On the whole I enjoyed the zoo but there were some disappointing elements for such a new zoo.
As Bioparcs go , i liked Bioparc Doué de la fontaine much better 😂😂😂…There will be a 60 million euro extention to Bioparc Valencia based on the silk road 3:38
Your videos are that good that i already liked before watching ;). Keep up the high expectations, you're doing great!! Kind regards from your belgian friends 😉
I do not like that the savanna enclosure looks like a golf field.
a kipspringer called calypso used to live in the savannah aviary until two years ago, when he sadly passed away. he reached 27 years of age, which is a very impressive age for his species
Good video and exciting park. The expansion plans sound very good. Keep up the good work.
it is actually a really small zoo? and no african wild dogs!!!
Great review as always!
As I already commented in your German channel, the first expansion for this zoo was finally announced this very month, after multiple attempts in the past with nonsense proposals such as a water park. The remaining unused land isn't too spatious, and the plans are contradictory as some concept art depicts a new elephant house, but the press note stated that it will feature Chinese gardens next to the entrance (remains oddly unknown whether any animals will be there, even though concept art portrays pandas and takins in the landscape) and a new area themed to the Silk Road with allegedly aviaries, fish tanks, desert-like animals and a petting zoo, maybe even some bat species due to the overall Red Sea/Egyptian vibe. Not much space available in the grand scheme of things, but this is where I wish they move the Nile croc to, given their small enclosure and then also the possibility to maybe merge it with the hippo to reshape that one too.
I visit bioparc arround 1 month ago, i really liked the zoo very much but, the animal collection was not really spectacular. The fossa's, striped hyena's and African elphents was quite nice because in the Netherlands you don't see them often. But i missed some special animal(s) in there.
Very interesting review video as always, I already commented under your german Video to this Zoo, that I like your style of pointing out issues in Zoos where there is room for improvement and critizizing these issues objectively 👍🏻
Keep going on with your great work, I look forward to many more Videos to interesting Zoos (hopefully very soon about the Wilhelma in Stuttgart)
Hey, Valencian here, thanks so much for visiting my local zoo, glad to see it on this channel, and happy to see a thorough review, taking into account the good and bad the Bioparc has. A few random trivia bits for you:
3:40 This exhibit also used to keep Southern Talapoins, and until 2012 the last Northern Talapoins in Europe
4:31 This exhibit I belive currently rotates between the last Spot-Necked otter in Europe (I belive a male from LA) and a new pair of Eurasian's from Bratislava
14:09 The exhibit outside the aviary was home to Calypso, the last Ethiopian Klipspringer in Europe, a male originally from Frankfurt called Calypso. He died in 2022(?) at 26.
15:41 I belive this exhibit is actually rotating with a Striped Hyena since 2023, the female from Haute-Touche and the male From Bratislava
Love the content, looking forward to seeing more!!
A very elaborately produced video! Wonderfully done.
My new English learning routine: First, watch the video in German on Zoo Erlebnis, then watch it again here in English. It’s working well. 😉 Soon this account will turn into an English teaching account (just kidding). 😂
