SEVILLA SIN TURISTAS. La ciudad más bonita de España 4K | enriquealex

A lot has been written, spoken and sung about Seville. Cradle of flamenco, a very important part of the history of Spain and, for many, one of the most beautiful cities in the world. This is one of the places in Europe with more monuments per square meter. Arab palaces, courtyards, monasteries, urban forests, narrow streets and modern buildings coexist creating one of the most recognizable cities that can be visited. In this video I’m going to ask you to sit down and watch until the end, this city has so much to offer that every corner is worth enjoying. Welcome – for the second time – to Seville.
– The most beautiful city in the world What is a Sevillian going to say 🤪 Surely there are a lot of beautiful cities in Spain that we don’t know yet but for me this is without a doubt the most beautiful city in Spain. It doesn’t matter where you look at! Take this as an example. Warning: we are in full pandemic, July 2020, When you see us without a mask, like now, it means that no one is around us nor is anyone expected. In parks, and even on the street because the truth is that right now tourism is pretty much on hold and there are hardly any tourists, so it is a very good time to show you this wonderful city. It is worth coming once, and again, and again. The history of Seville began with the Phoenicians, who were followed by Carthaginians, Romans, Visigoths, Muslims and Christians. All these stages have left their mark on the city, which today preserves a lot of history on every street, especially those in the old city. Roman urbanism, Muslim style and buildings reused and adapted by each civilization that took control have shaped the city and made it a historical and touristic landmark. Seville, of course, has some of the most visited monuments in Spain, and this is one of them. Last year it received more than 2 million visitors, this year because of the situation obviously there will be less. This one is the Real Alcázar of Seville, a palatial complex that has been built at different times. It began to be built in the high Middle Ages but it also has Islamic and Gothic remains. It is a World Heritage Site since 1987 and it’s the official residence of the Spanish monarchy when they visit Seville, which makes it the oldest palace in use in Europe. Let’s go check it out. Set on Roman and early Christian structures, the great splendor of the Alcázar comes from the Muslim era, to which later additions such as the Gothic Palace were made. It is so rare to see it without anyone that I think it is worth leaving you with the images. We are going to rest a little because it’s SO hot right now. As I said before, this is one of the most visited places in Spain, and you can see why. It is spectacular, and the mix of styles is very difficult to see elsewhere. Many places even remember to the Alhambra in Granada. If you’re a fan of Game of Thrones you will now recognize in the gardens of the Alcázar the city of Dorne. Don’t blink! These are the oldest gardens in Seville. Reformed and expanded, they have always maintained their Muslim characteristics with fountains, creating landscaped plots and making use of two elements that are seen everywhere in the city: tiles and orange trees. As I was saying, it is almost impossible to walk through Seville without finding remains of its history. On the shore of the Guadalquivir river that crosses the city is the Torre del Oro (Tower of Gold), perfectly preserved until today, But I will take this opportunity to recommend you to do what you see now: enjoy a sunset stroll and the incredible colors of the Seville sky. Speaking of recommendations, the stunning Seville Cathedral and the Giralda, the tower that serves as the city’s icon, are even more spectacular at night. Especially if you visit the city in summer, take advantage of the cool temperatures when the sun goes down to enjoy the thousands of details of its exterior. I’m gonna wear a cap because this sun light is hitting me hard. Welcome to one of my favorite places in the entire city of Seville. This is the Plaza de España, which was completed in 1929 for the Ibero-American Exposition. It has a very beautiful meaning, which I love. It has a semicircular shape and it represents a hug from Spain to its former lands on the American continent. It has tons of precious details, including hand-painted ceramic railings and in the background there are banks where all the Spanish provinces are represented. Let’s go for a walk. This is one of the details that make this place so special. By the way, people usually ride little boats around here, but because of the global pandemic… we have the city to ourselves. And this one here is one of the most iconic buildings in the entire city of Seville. They call it the Costurero de la Reina; It is the first Neo-Mudejar building in the entire city. They call it Costurero de la Reina because it is said that María de las Mercedes de Orleans, Alfonso XII’s wife, came here. But that’s impossible since it was completed a few years after she died. It’s here next to one of the arms of the Guadalquivir river. The heat is to Seville what the clouds are to the sky, but here the parks and gardens are much more common than in other cities in Spain. Of course influenced by its history, and also with monuments, some like the huge María Luisa park are true green lungs of the city This is the Museum of Popular Arts and Customs. What customs, for example? For example, old flamenco dresses, in which the skirts started much higher and were less fitted, antique hats, fans… Now it is closed due to the international situation but when you come it is a place that is very worth seeing. This is the beautiful María Luisa Park, and one of the things I like the most about it is that it has a lot of little corners like this that are very private, where you can come to get a book, or whatever you want, and sit around here. Maybe not at 4 in the afternoon though… The city of Seville has many hot days a year, and that’s why there are squares with lots of trees. These are orange trees, to create shelter from the sun. There are also very narrow streets, where the shadow (…) Well, there are also very narrow streets where there is always shade… I think this was Seville telling me to shut up. This is what fell on my head. From this tree right here. Moving on with our walk we have reached the Judería street, which is the beginning of the Judería (Jew neighbourhood). These two neighborhoods, the Santa Cruz neighborhood and the San Bartolomé neighborhood, are known as the Jewish quarter, and they have very narrow streets where the sun doesn’t really get much, so they’re quite cold during the day. They are beautiful. There are many Andalusian patios here. And above all a lot of personality, it is one of the most recognizable areas of the city of Seville. Also here is the Water street, which is a beautiful and super nice street. Let’s go for a walk! There is a place in Seville that was finished quite recently about ten years ago. Since then it is a must visit in the center of Seville. These “mushrooms” are officially called Metropol Parasol, It costs 5 euros to enter, but Sevillians like him don’t have to pay. From here you can see all the churches, the cathedral… the view is beautiful. Seville is originally a Phoenician and Roman city, and every time they try to build something, for example the “mushrooms” that we just visited, Roman remains are found. Now that there are fewer tourists in Seville, you can enter places that are normally very crowded. This is one of them, the Patio de San Eloy, a restaurant where people usually come to have tapas, and it’s true that it’s kind of hard to find
vegan things here but we have stopped to have a gazpacho. Cheers! Seville underwent a very big change in 1992, by the way the first time I came, when I was 5, because the ’92 Universal Exposition, the Expo’92 was held. I will always remember the pet, whose name was Curro. It was a bird with a rainbow on its head.
– I had a fish called Curro. For a long time the facilities, once the Expo was over, were abandoned. There were many very beautiful pavilions, like this one, which is the Moroccan Pavilion, there is even a rocket there in the distance, which we are going to show you now There are many things that bring me back so many memories. Let’s take a walk around here. This area is not as touristy, but it is a part of the history of Seville. It has a very strange feeling, like something very big happened here. Futuristic, perhaps. On the same island where the 1992 Universal Exposition was organized is the Cartuja Monastery, which gives the island its name. It was precisely in the library of this monastery that Columbus prepared to secure the support of the Catholic Monarchs for their expeditions to the New World. Catholic Easter is one of the largest festivals in Seville and the processions of images from some churches are a great tourist attraction. One of the most acclaimed leaves from here, the Basilica de la Macarena, along with the remains of the old wall of Seville. From Roman times Seville was protected by this wall that you see here, behind us. This wall changed a lot because all the civilizations you can imagine passed through this city. There is a little part here, in the Macarena area, which is the largest, and there is also a little part near the Alcazar. It was a walled city but today the city has grown far beyond the walls. It had up to 80 doors.
– No, 18. As we were saying earlier in all cities with Roman origins it is very common to walk and find things like this columns from Hadrian’s time. It is shocking to realize how the city level was down there, five meters deeper than now. All civilizations have added their layer. And today we are on top of all that history. Last stop of this trip through Seville: the famous neighborhood of Triana, on the other side of the Guadalquivir and connected through the Triana Bridge, so loved by the people of Seville. And here in the heart of the Triana neighborhood there are some remains of one of the darkest times in the history of Spain, the time of the Inquisition. This is the alley of the Inquisition. Very close to here there was the court of the Inquisition. The inmates who were led down this alley were to be judged or sentenced to death. I said at the beginning that to me this is the most beautiful city in Spain, and there are always opinions for all tastes but it is hard to deny the magic of Seville. Yes, it is true, here it is usually hot, but tell me where in the world no matter where you look at you will always be amazed by so much beauty. I know very few places like this and every time I come to Seville I fall in love with it a little more. That’s it for now!

  11. For our Friends the Spaniards who do not know how we love and adore Seville ( Ishbiliya in Arabic) thousands of poets and Books talking about its beauty and always had a special place in our hearts till today . Thanks for not destroy it like Romans once destroyed our Mighty and splendid Carthage ( Tunis today) and prevented humanity from seeing that Great City Republic though our ancestors the Carthagians took italy and Rome for 15 years and Hannibal did not want to destroy Rome because we are civlisation builders not destroyers Unfortunetly today after centuries of Eastern empires ruled us and assimilated us into their own ideologies and killed our national self confidence we are just illegal immigrant exporter country and see my compatriot dies in sea and if reached Italy treated like animals it makes me sad . Keep my Spaniard friends those jewlery of Al Andalus for us all . History creates pride and make countries stand on feet when they fail. Peace be upon you all Salam
