The Majestic Sagrada Familia

From above, the city awakens. Rising from its heart, the Sagrada Familia commands the Skywalker. Eighteen towers will crown this masterpiece. Here, Gaudí celebrates life itself. Light floods the temple with color. For Gaudí, light was nothing less than the presence of God. Slanting columns branch like trees to carry the weight, creating a stone forest, a place for silence, awe and prayer. Geometry follows the logic of growth and balance. Hyperboloid skylights draw daylight deep inside. The Basilica follows a Latin cross plan. Behind the crossing, the apse and its chapels… …gather like a quiet crown around the heart of worship. Each space serving life inside the church. Here, the stone turns spare and severe. The passion speaks in restraint, weight and silence. At the heart rises the future tower of Christ, 172 meters, the high point of the whole design. There are signs in stone, angel, lion, ox and eagle. A living workshop continues Gaudí’s vision. Tradition refined by modern tools and patient hands. Angels, animals, and plants seem to grow from living stone. Nature is the master here. An open heart in the city. From stone and light to sky, a prayer in architecture, still unfolding, still rising…

In recent years, we’ve visited Gaudí’s Sagrada Familia in Barcelona four times. Each time, we were impressed by the magnificent architecture and the beautiful light. The previous times we took photos; this time (2019) I made a short video. With modern techniques I added a beautiful voice-over.

When the Sagrada is fully completed (in 2026?), we’ll definitely go back.
