Valldemossa 🇪🇸 – a romantic mountain village // Mallorca, Spain 2023

It is particularly well-known for the former Carthusian monastery.
The historical center is characterized by the church “Sant Bartomeu” and the narrow streets with houses from the 16th century.

But not only the monastery speaks for a visit to Valldemossa. The village itself invites you to linger. Strolling through the romantic narrow streets, one can admire many houses decorated with floral decorations.

Every Sunday between 9am and 3pm, the Valldemossa market sells fruit, vegetables, textiles, handicrafts, souvenirs, plants and flowers. The market attracts visitors from all over the island.

– The Charterhouse of Valldemossa is today, next to the cathedral in Palma, the most important sight on the Balearic island and attracts thousands of tourists to the town every year. The origins of the imposing building date back to 1399.

If you are planning a day trip to Valldemossa from Palma, you can reach the mountain village about 20 km away via a well-developed road by leaving Palma in a northerly direction. The approach in this breathtaking landscape first leads around Valldemossa and finally ends in one of the large parking lots.

Of course you can also take the 210 bus to Valldemossa. The journey starts at the “Estación Intermodal” near the Plaza de España and takes about 30 minutes.

– Frederic Chopin and George Sand ( Museum )

In addition, the memory of two famous visitors is still very present there: Frédéric Chopin and George Sand. Scores, documents, furniture and correspondence related to the stay of the two characters on the island, as well as the piano “Pleyel” are exhibited here. During the summer, concerts are held in the cloister and gardens of La Cartuja in honor of the famous Polish composer.
