San Sebastian Film Festival 2025 | Cinematic weekend by the sea

[Music] Oh my god, guess who? I haven’t seen her in so long. [Music] Hello. Hello. Where are we right now? We’re in San at the beach. We are at the beach and we are here for the international film festival. [Music] I have three movies today. Pala has two. Mhm. And then we’re just going to hang out on the beach and like talk about them. Mhm. [Music] The first movie we’re watching today is called Defense. Um, and it also has a French title. And from what we read from the synopsis, it happens in South Africa. And that’s honestly all we know right now. So, we’ll just go and see. Don’t laugh at me. We’ll just go and see. Oh, hello [Music] Hello. We just left the first movie and I do have thoughts. Basically, the synopsis of the movie is man comes to a construction site and he stands outside the fence and like the kind of manager of the construction site asks him, “What are you doing here?” And he says, “I am here to collect the body of my brother that died yesterday.” And he says he’s going to stand there until they give him the body. And like the movie spans throughout the night and a bunch of things happen. They had some cool quotes in that movie. Yeah. You’re like a coin that fell on the ground that shines for no one. That was very Now for the criticism. It was a very ambitious watch. One that I wasn’t ready for at 11:00 in the morning. I think there was no music in the entire movie. There was music at the like end credits, but in the movie there was no music, which made it really, really hard to focus. Really well life. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Kind of crazy vibes. Very crazy vibes, but like in a good way. We gave it a 6 out of 10. If I was in Ladder Box, it would be three stars. Now, we have a bit of a break and then we’re going to see our second movie. [Music] Wow. [Music] [Applause] Okay, let’s run. I lost you. All right, our second movie. We are in the Victoria Theater and it’s incredibly fancy. So beautiful. It’s so beautiful. We are also in row six, which is kind of like insane. And we are here to watch The President’s Cake with the official film delegation. We read the synopsis of the movie, and it looks really interesting. Yeah. Yeah. And we have high hopes for it. So, we’ll see how it goes. We just watched the president’s cake, and it was I am still in shock over it. Pa is still crying after it. I don’t know how much I can post of this because it might be a spoiler, but you just give spoiler warning at the beginning. Spoiler spoiler warning. Like the synopsis of the movie is basically for the president’s birthday every year kids have to make a cake and this girl was selected. That’s it. That’s all you know when you go in and that doesn’t even tell you half of the story. They executed really well. The like um constant threat in the background that in the end, you know, uh just completely breaks your heart. I don’t know. I am still kind of processing the emotional shock. As the movie finished, we like the spotlight went to the director again and this was the longest applause I ever heard after a movie. So, out of 10, what do we give this? 11. Okay. No, like realistically. 10. Honestly, I would give it a 10. I feel honestly as well. Yeah. When they said at the beginning that it’s a contend it’s Iraq’s contender for for an Oscar. Yes. 100%. No doubt. Yeah, it like please give this at Oscar. Tala is going shopping. And I am heading to my third movie. [Music] I am walking back from my last screen for the day and it is raining because it is Sans Sebastian and I forgot what Sansan is like. I couldn’t tell you about the movie before because it was it is pouring raining outside full thunderstorm. I thankfully found a cab and then the taxi driver very nicely told me that I was walking in the opposite direction to my hotel so I would have never made it. The third movie I watched today was the wizard of Kremlin. I don’t know what I was expecting but I wasn’t I like it was I was not expecting it. So the movie follows a fictional character called Vadim Baranov. Starts we start at the end of the Soviet Union and then we go as he kind of rose in power with along with Putin and became this kind of wizard or like the new rasputin. Anyway, that was a really interesting watch. I am filming this in bed. Nobody you cannot judge me. You cannot judge me. It is 9:30 p.m. But it was also a really long day and I just like want to chill out right now. So pretty. but absolutely raining everywhere. We are heading to a press screening of Kouture. This is my first press screening and I really don’t know what I’m going to expect. But I think it’s going to be really cool. All right, you’re going to have to ignore my hair because it rained and I didn’t have time to fix it, but I just left the last movie Couture with Angelie and it was really, really good. I I made notes. It was all women’s stories, which I thought was really cool. There were four women and we followed all of them throughout the fashion week in Paris, which was really interesting. This one shot at the fashion show that I can’t really tell you anything about, but it was beautiful and it kind of felt like you’re watching a Gothic movie. It was very much this contrast between like what happens in the fashion world and what actually happens, which was really cool. Give this one an 8 out of 10. And this was my last movie at the Sabbian Film Festival. I saw four movies, which is two more than I did last year, and I’m really, really happy. And it was a really good weekend. And now I’m going to eat brunch because it’s only 10:00 a.m. and I still have 5 hours in the city. [Music] Guys, look what I got. I had some time before I had to go back to the hotel. So, I went to Corsal, which is this like huge auditorium here, and that’s where like you can get merchandise and stuff. So every day of the Saras festival, which is like 10 days, uh there is a newspaper for that day with like all of the movies that they’re showing. So this is the yesterday one and this is today’s newspaper. I went into the shop and there was a huge line because everybody was buying umbrellas since it’s raining. But I thought, you know, I can’t look any worse. So let me just get other things. And this is what I got. This keychain and it’s in the in the cont in the cont shape. So, it’s in the like the logo of the festival. Cutest t-shirt and it’s literally it’s so cute and it is Sansbian, but it’s also one of my favorite movies. It’s the Roman holiday. I I fought through this t-shirt. I was like, do I get it? Do I not get it? It looks cool. Will I wear it? This was like a fought for decision. This was totally spontaneous. Like, it does say in tiny letters here since film festival, but you can’t really tell. And especially since like you’re I’m gonna like fold it like well obviously not like this but like imagine something like this. If I wear it like that I look like Audrey Heburn on this t-shirt. So it all makes sense. It all it’s all coming together. [Music] That’s it. [Music]
