Hi everyone 🙂
I’d like to share a video report from my hiking trips in the Sierra Nevada mountains in California, taken in September 6–14, 2025:
1. Mount Whitney, 4,421 m (14,505 ft) – the highest peak in the continental United States. Access to the trail is limited: only 160 people per day are allowed. To be among the lucky ones, you first need to enter a lottery, and after winning a spot you can purchase a permit, which allows you to be in the area for 24 hours on a specific day.
2. Lone Pine – a tiny, atmospheric town at the foot of Mt. Whitney.
3. Alabama Hills – hills near Lone Pine where many westerns were filmed.
4. Half Dome, 2,693 m (8,836 ft) – a mountain with a unique shape and an icon of Yosemite National Park. To reach the very top, you climb a very steep granite slope shaped like a parabola. There are two steel cables installed on metal posts to assist hikers—it’s an incredible experience. Access here is also limited to only 300 people per day. You must enter the lottery and then purchase a permit for a specific date.
5. Clouds Rest, 3,025 m (9,926 ft) – from the summit you get a breathtaking 360° panorama of Yosemite Valley, Half Dome, and the surrounding peaks.
6. Mount Hoffmann, 3,307 m (10,850 ft) – a peak in the eastern part of Yosemite National Park offering beautiful views.
7. Mount Dana, 3,979 m (13,061 ft) – the second-highest peak in Yosemite National Park, located on the park’s eastern border. The trail is short but steep and demanding.
8. Tioga Road – a scenic road in the eastern part of the park.
9. Lee Vining – a town located on Mono Lake, near Yosemite National Park.
10. Mono Lake – a saline lake with unique flora and fauna.
