Hiking from Capileira (1436m) to Pico Mulhacén (3482m) – and back again
Yesterday, I climbed #Mulhacén (3482m) from the house I’m renting in Capileira (1436m) — and walked back again. A total distance of 40 kilometers / 24.8 miles, according to Endomondo.
I walked along the Poqueira river (Rio Mulhacén) which originates near the peak of the mountain. It’s all part of a Sierra Nevada region called La Alpujarra.
Mulhacén is the tallest mountain in mainland Spain and the third highest peak in Western Europe. There’s a moonscape at the summit.
Correction: According to the English Wikipedia article about Mulhacén, the elevation is 3482 meters.
Music: All Mixed Up by Red House Painters.

Fed video – vi har også været der ….https://youtu.be/c–Pibs-kFg 😊
Loved the video. Planning on making it out to Mulhacén in September and got a room in Hostal Rural Atalaya. My friends and coworkers are saying it will be too difficult for me but I am a very competitive person while also being very mindful of my stamina and physical limits. I am from California and have done my share of heavy hiking.
I really want to do it in a day (more or less recreate your route) as my schedule only really allows for that. Is there anything you can suggest to make my trip go smoothly?? Also what you were wearing, food and water amount, pace, etc.
Great video 😊🌲
Er det farligt vil du sige, hvis man er ret god form, men også relativt uerfaren ift. bjergklatring?
Hi. That's a lot of distance and height gain 💪. Glad you got a good clear day for it. Enjoyable video .👍
