Join Armstrong and myself for an 8-minute off-trail adventure in the Eastern Sierra near Mammoth Lakes, California.

Starting from the popular Convict Lake trailhead, we scouted rugged terrain for a longer high route project I’ve been working on for the past few seasons, tagging epic spots like Gemini Pass, Red Slate Mountain (a 13er with some of my favorite views in the Sierra!), and the lesser traveled Corridor Pass.

Armstrong is currently Thru-hiking the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT), and he decided to join me for a weekend of alpine exploration through some of the most geologically unique terrain in the Sierra Nevada- full of striking red rock, knife-edge ridges, and big open views. If you love off-trail hiking, Sierra High Routes, or remote alpine peak bagging then stay tuned and consider subscribing to see more videos like this one.

  1. Could totally extend this with Shout-of-relief Pass, Bighorn Pass, Grinnell Col, and Hopkins Pass to circle around Red and White Mountain to continue the "rad rock" vibe

  2. This is a phenomenal video, man. I’ve really appreciated your videos ever since I stumbled upon your channel this past year. The visuals in this video are stunning. Keep up the great work.

  3. Hey man, great to meet you at Distant last week. Sorry I had to "recognize and run"- I had a pool tournament to get started. Great video as always, thanks for sharing!

  4. I love it Dan, what absolute beauty! I need to get back out there it's been waaay too long since I explored the Sierras. Thank you for bringing a piece of them to me. I'll meet up with you out there one of these days. Keep them coming and travel safe 🌄
