Descending Sierra Nevada: The Legendary “El Purche” Road | Part 10
Welcome back to Part 10 of my Sierra Nevada motorcycle adventure!
After reaching the end of the road at Hoya de la Mora (2,500m), it’s time to head back down to the heat of the city. But we are not taking the highway.
In this episode, I turn off the main road to tackle the legendary “Carretera de El Purche” (also known as the Ruta Pintoresca to Monachil). This road is steep, tight, and filled with challenging hairpins that can be a bit scary for “This Old Noob”, but the views over Granada make it totally worth it.
We pass through Monachil and deal with the inevitable Spanish roadworks before the bike’s rest timer warns me it’s time to stop at the hotel.
Next up: The long journey back to Portugal.
