The history of the Cathedral of Toledo goes back to the 6th century, when a Visigothic cathedral and the mosque were built in the same place where the Gothic cathedral now stands. In the 13th century, after the reconquest of Toledo by the Christians, construction began on the Gothic cathedral that we can see today.
