Sevilla With Kids: We’d Move Here If It Wasn’t SO Hot

We might have found our favorite city in Spain — and it’s NOT Valencia. Sevilla has the most beautiful thing we’ve seen in two years of living in Spain, incredible parks, stunning architecture, and a vibe that’s hard to beat. There’s just one massive problem… 🔥

We’re Mike and Aubrey from Simplify Abroad — a family of six (plus four dogs and a grandma!) who moved from the U.S. to Valencia, Spain. We took all seven of us to Sevilla and here’s our completely honest take.

⏱ 0:00 – Intro — “If it wasn’t so hot, I might live here”
⏱ 1:42 – The heat — 90°F in MARCH
⏱ 2:03 – Las Setas de Sevilla (the “Honeycombs”)
⏱ 4:21 – Walking through old town Sevilla
⏱ 5:25 – Plaza de España — our #1 attraction in ALL of Spain
⏱ 6:24 – The parks, playgrounds & cafés around it
⏱ 7:42 – Our kid got hit by a Segway (he’s fine 😂)
⏱ 9:40 – Flamenco show — our boys were dancing in the back
⏱ 11:15 – Real Alcázar — Moorish palace with peacocks
⏱ 12:07 – The cathedral climb — 60+ flights of stairs
⏱ 14:30 – Best Indian food of our LIVES (Bollywood Restaurant)
⏱ 16:22 – Final verdict — would we live here?

🏛 WHAT WE LOVED:
✅ Plaza de España — our #1 attraction in all of Spain, hands down
✅ Gorgeous parks with playgrounds, cafés, and shade everywhere
✅ Las Setas — incredible views of the city from the top
✅ The flamenco show had our kids dancing in the back row
✅ Real Alcázar — Moorish palace with peacocks roaming the grounds
✅ Cathedral climb — exhausting but the panoramic views are worth it
✅ Bollywood Indian Restaurant — best Indian food we’ve ever had (3,000+ reviews)
✅ Beautiful old town walking streets with vendors, ice cream, music
✅ Incredibly friendly city — people singing, throwing money to street musicians
✅ Felt very safe, even walking around at night

🔥 THE ONE BIG NEGATIVE:
❌ The HEAT — it was 90°F (32°C) in March. Summer would be unbearable for us. If Sevilla was on the coast, it might be our #1 city in Spain.

⚠️ ALSO GOOD TO KNOW:
🛴 Watch out for Segway tours in narrow alleys (our son learned the hard way)
🦚 The Real Alcázar has peacocks — kids will love it
🥘 The food scene goes way beyond Spanish — try the Indian food near Plaza de España
⛪ Cathedral stair climb = 60+ flights. Bring water. Trust no one who says “two more flights.”

📍 Sevilla is the capital of Andalusia in southern Spain. It’s famous for flamenco, Moorish architecture, and being one of the hottest cities in Europe during summer.

  1. Would you deal with the heat to live in Sevilla? Or is it a dealbreaker? 🔥 Also yes, our son really did get hit by a Segway. He's totally fine. 😂
