We are featuring here the stunning Basque Coast of northern Spain, starting in beautiful San Sebastián (Donostia), one of Europe’s most elegant seaside cities. From the iconic La Concha Beach and breathtaking views from Mount Igueldo to the historic Old Town, we discover why this city is famous for its culture, architecture, and world-class gastronomy.
Our journey continues to the charming fishing town of Getaria, birthplace of fashion legend Cristóbal Balenciaga and explorer Juan Sebastián Elcano, the first sailor to complete a voyage around the world. Along the way, we uncover an unexpected personal connection between Elcano and the Philippines.
Finally, we visit Zumaia, home to the spectacular Itzurun Beach and the famous flysch cliffs that reveal millions of years of Earth’s history and served as a filming location for Game of Thrones.
