Yosemite National Park was designated in 1864 and is famous for its waterfalls, but also covers 3,081 square kilometers (1,200 square miles) of deep canyons, magnificent meadows and giant sequoia trees.
It is located in Mariposa and Tuolumne counties in the central Sierra Nevada mountains of California, USA.
