Riga is a veritable Art Nouveau metropolis, the European city with the most Art Nouveau architectural work. Over 700 buildings were constructed between 1899 and 1914 based on local variations of the new style: dubbed “National Romanticism” between 1905 and 1911 and “Perpendicular Art Nouveau” from 1907 onwards.
This part of Rīga is often known as the “quiet centre” of the city. It is right alongside the Ring of Boulevards, but without the throngs and noise of a big city. There are few shops here, but the diversity of Art NouveaRiga is a veritable Art Nouveau metropolis, the European city with the most Art Nouveau architectural work.u architectural forms is astounding. The buildings in this area were mostly built in the early 20th century on land that had never really been built up. Meant to be homogeneous in appearance, the buildings can be found, in part, on the famous Alberta Street, where the ornaments of Art Nouveau can be both playful and fiery.

This open-air exhibition consists of large-format reproductions of paintings in their original size (scale 1: 1), carefully selecting major masterpieces from the Prado museum collection. The viewer can travel on a small journey, taking a chronological view of the various painting schools which form the artistic panorama of the Prado museum, from the 12 th century to the early 20 th century, by introducing the history of Spain and Europe, as well as the general history of Western art through Spanish, Italian, Flemish, French, German and Dutch paintings
