That is supposed to be the official residence of the Most Catholic Majesties, monarchs of Spain. 🙂 But they live in a palace in the suburbs of Madrid – the Royal Palace is only used for official events and stuff like that. It's also the biggest palace in Western Europe, ordered by King Felipe the V (the first Bourbon in Spain, succeding the Habsburg monarchs).
