  1. great video! good to point out the risk of going down… it would seem wise to not go up something that should not be gone down… for the same risks. But each person has to take the risk the are comfortable with. There is a "hike" like this down in Forest Falls CA, but without the view. One wrong move and it's 1000ft drop…

  2. Thank you so much for posting this video.

In the late 80's, I was inspired (understatement!) by my extensive readings of Ansel Adams life, to travel (from the UK) to Yosemite in 1991, to attempt this route to the diving board, but during the climb, I was soon struck with the realisation that I would probably not be able to get back down the same route, and (stupidly) having not told anyone of my intentions, I backed out of the attempt.

I was 31 years old then, but I am due to visit Yosemite again in May of next year (34 years on), but any sort of climb would be completely out of the question for me now….sadly.

I am very envious of your achievment and also very grateful to you for documenting your climb for us all.

  3. Good one. Try Half Dome Gully to the base of the NW Face. 3rd class, but I wouldn't stop to film with a handheld. Sierra Club register at the top signed by D. Brower (1960s?). It looked possible to traverse and climb up to the Diving Board.

  4. What a great video. I really want to do that shortcut route to the dive board but I had a spinal injury in a car crash. I was trying to do that route in 2021. My prayer is to be able to do it 2025. 🙏🙏🙏 Thank you for such beauty. That moment where you filmed yourself on the dive board from across the valley was just magical. I can’t wait to mend to attempt this in 2025. Your photography is out of this world. 🫶 M
