Explore The BEST Of VALENCIA Fallas 2025 NINOT Exhibition!
The Ninot Exhibition in Valencia’s City of Arts and Sciences is a key event leading up to the Las Fallas festival. Held annually at the Museu de les Ciències, the exhibition showcases hundreds of ninots—intricately crafted, often satirical figurines that form part of the massive Fallas monuments. Visitors can vote for their favorite “Ninot Indultat” (pardoned ninot), which is saved from the festival’s traditional burning (La Cremà) and preserved in the Fallas Museum. This exhibition offers a unique glimpse into Valencia’s craftsmanship, humor, and cultural heritage.
Las Fallas: Valencia’s Spectacular Fire Festival
Las Fallas is Valencia’s most famous festival, a vibrant and explosive celebration held every March in honor of Saint Joseph. Recognized as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, this festival transforms the city into an open-air art gallery filled with towering, intricate sculptures known as fallas. These artistic monuments, often satirical and politically themed, are painstakingly crafted by local artisans and displayed throughout the city before being set ablaze in a dramatic finale called La Cremà on March 19th.
The festival officially begins on March 1st with the Mascletà, a daily midday firecracker show in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento that shakes the city with rhythmic explosions. Throughout the month, Valencia comes alive with parades, music, traditional falleras dresses, and floral offerings to the Virgen de los Desamparados, the city’s patron saint. One of the most touching moments is the Ofrenda de Flores, where thousands of falleros and falleras present flowers to form an enormous floral tapestry in the Plaza de la Virgen.
Fireworks displays, known as castillos, light up the sky every night, culminating in the Nit del Foc (Night of Fire), the grandest display of all. The festival reaches its climax on March 19th, when all but one ninot (a small falla figure voted to be saved) are engulfed in flames, symbolizing renewal and the passing of time.
Las Fallas is more than just a festival—it’s a deeply rooted tradition that combines art, humor, fire, and passion. Whether you come for the dazzling pyrotechnics, the stunning craftsmanship, or the lively atmosphere, experiencing Las Fallas is an unforgettable way to witness Valencia’s unique cultural spirit.
