Lake Tahoe is a stunning freshwater lake in the Sierra Nevada, straddling the border between California and Nevada. It lies at an elevation of 6,225 feet (1,897 meters) above sea level. Lake Tahoe is the largest alpine lake in North America.

One of the most photographed vistas at Lake Tahoe, Emerald Bay is three miles long and one mile wide. At the head of Emerald Bay stands Vikingsholm, a 1929 Scandinavian-style castle that was the summer home of Mrs. Lora Knight. Rising 150 feet above Emerald Bay, Fannette Island is a knob of granite that resisted the scouring of glaciers thousands of years ago. At the top of Fannette Island stands a rustic, 16 by-16-foot stone building that once served as Mrs. Lora Knight’s teahouse. Fannette Island sits in the middle of Emerald Bay.

Eagle Falls & Eagle Lake Trail is a moderate hike with some rocky terrain and 450 feet elevation gain. Upper Eagle Falls is part of the Eagle Falls Trail, which leads to Eagle Lake. Eagle Falls Trail is enveloped by the majestic granite peaks of the Sierra Nevada. Cascading waters of Eagle Falls flow along the scenic trail. The hike ends at the beautiful Eagle Lake. The glassy waters of Eagle Lake reflect the surrounding granite peaks of the Sierra Nevada range. The crystal-clear waters of Eagle Lake shimmer in shades of greenish blue. The Eagle Falls & Eagle Lake Trail is approximately a 2-mile round trip.

The San Francisco–Oakland Bay Bridge, commonly known as the Bay Bridge, is a major bridge spanning San Francisco Bay, connecting San Francisco and Oakland, California. It includes the Yerba Buena Tunnel, which runs through Yerba Buena Island. The total length of Bay Bridge is approximately 4.46 miles (7.18 km).
