Northern California Scenic Drive | Cascades to Sierra Nevada via Lassen & Highway 70 | 4K HDR
This video presents a scenic drive through the volcanic and forested landscapes of Northern California, beginning in the southern Cascade Range and passing through Lassen National Forest and Lassen Volcanic National Park before continuing southeast into the northern Sierra Nevada foothills and the town of Quincy, California.
The route follows sections of California State Route 36, State Route 89, and State Route 70, starting in the wooded mountain terrain west of Lassen. It enters Lassen Volcanic National Park via the southern entrance on Highway 89, ascending through dense conifer forests and striking volcanic landscapes toward the Summit Lake area. Along this stretch, the scenery includes lava formations, high-elevation forests, volcanic slopes, and expansive views shaped by the Cascade volcanic arc.
After exiting the park’s southern entrance, the drive continues south and east along Highways 89 and 36, traversing remote mountain terrain as it transitions from the volcanic highlands of the southern Cascades into the northern Sierra Nevada. Further east, Highway 70 follows parts of the historic Feather River corridor, running alongside segments of the former Western Pacific Railroad through forested canyons and mountain valleys before reaching Quincy.
Filmed in real time in 4K HDR, this edition is accompanied by original instrumental ambient music, providing a reflective soundtrack to the evolving landscapes of Northern California’s mountains, forests, and volcanic terrain.
