San Sebastian Spain Old Town Walking Tour, Mount Urgull & Pintxos Guide What to See & Eat

If you’re planning a trip to San Sebastian Spain 🇪🇸, this video is packed with ideas for what to see, where to walk, and what to eat in one of the most beautiful cities in the Basque Country.

We explored San Sebastian on our own with no tour, no schedule, and no set plan, walking from Pension Aida toward Old Town San Sebastian, crossing the Urumea River, admiring the tiled sidewalks and architecture, and passing the iconic Hotel Maria Cristina before heading into the historic center.

Along the way, we visited La Bretxa Market, San Vicente Church, the Basilica of Saint Mary of the Chorus, and climbed Mount Urgull in January to see Santiago Battery, Napoleon Battery, the Powder Magazine, Polvorín Terrace Bar, Castillo de la Mota, and the Sacred Heart statue overlooking the city.

Back down in town, we passed San Sebastian City Hall—once the Gran Casino—visited the Cathedral of the Good Shepherd, crossed the Maria Cristina Bridge, and walked the Urumea River promenade past the ornate Drinking Fountain.

To finish the day, we stopped at Bergara Bar San Sebastian, one of the city’s best-known pintxos bars, where we tried award-winning pintxos, local Txakoli wine, Basque cider, cava, and an incredible pork loin sandwich with peppers and cheese.
