What Barcelona felt like before the Pope Arrived at Sagrada Familia #travel #barcelona
The day before the celebration, Barcelona felt calm.
By 8 AM, the streets around Sagrada Família were quiet. From the balcony of the apartment I booked months in advance, it was hard to imagine what was coming.
Throughout the day, I watched the city slowly transform. People began arriving around 2 PM to secure viewing spots for Pope Leo XIV’s arrival. By evening, thousands had gathered around the basilica and nearby viewpoints.
While those near the large screens could follow the Mass and ceremonies, we followed much of the event from our apartment and rooftop, watching the anticipation build until the lights, music, and fireworks finally began.
This short is not about the celebration itself—it’s about the hours leading up to it and what Barcelona felt like before the historic evening unfolded.
